Of all the spaces in my pre-war apartment that could use a little TLC, my bathroom tops the list. It’s somewhat sizable (well, by New York City standards, at least), but lacks any natural light or a fan, so it’s a playground for dust and moisture. Not to sound too hyperbolic, but it’s slightly akin to a cave. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for bathroom linens that are equal parts comfy and stylish (major emphasis) — and I really hit the best of both worlds with my go-to bath towel. Even after seven months of use and many, many washes, it’s arguably one of the softest I’ve ever owned, period.

The aforementioned bathroom fixture is Serena & Lily’s Fouta Bath Towel, a striped made-in-Turkey product I tested in July that landed a spot on our Best Towels list. Did I pick this one to try out specifically for its luxurious, beautiful design? Of course. But just like traditional Turkish towels, this tightly-woven iteration touts a noticeably gentle-meets-plush texture. As soon as I unboxed it, I actually said, “Oh, wow” aloud to myself in my empty apartment (just solo living things!) because it felt that good to touch. Naturally, I had to wash it ASAP so I could put it to use. And, much to my surprise, the towel upheld its superb softness even after a quick laundromat trip.

I’m pleased to report that, more than half a year (and countless showers) later, I can still say the same. In fact, I loved this towel so much that I bought myself another. And despite now owning two, I tend to use and re-wash the original most frequently, which means that it has survived many laundry days while maintaining its smooth, fresh-out-of-the-box feel. Woven from long-staple, 100% Turkish Aegean cotton, it’s especially absorbent and fast-drying despite its lightweight nature (yes, even in my moisture-laden bathroom). I’m not a huge fan of super thick, bulky towels in the first place, and this one certainly doesn’t compromise density for overall durability.

I’d be remiss not to fawn over its looks, as well — just take in that bathroom-enhancing, yarn-dyed striped front! I currently have the gray-hued Smoke/Fog colorway, but it’s also available in equally soothing Coastal/Blue Sky or Navy/Coastal Blue variations. The Fouta Bath Towel costs just shy of $50 (a worthwhile investment, in my linen-loving opinion), plus you can shop the matching hand towel or washcloth for $28 and $18, respectively.

TL;DR, I plan to use (and love) this post-shower staple until it literally falls apart at the seams — which, at its current longevity rate, may actually be never.
