These Will Be the Most Popular Paint Colors in 2025, According to Paint Pros
From cheery butter yellow to tried-and-true soft gray, 2024 paint color trends have been all across the board so far. But if you’re looking for some fresh inspiration on a new home project now that the year’s more than halfway over, Sherwin-Williams just shared its 2025 trend forecast report, and there’s an up-and-coming hue for just about every design preference.
Last week, the paint brand unveiled their 2025 Colormix Forecast: Capsules, which identified 48 trending paint colors for the year ahead (and beyond!). These are grouped into four palettes — Chrysalis, Paradox, Wellspring, and Kindred — chosen by Sherwin-Williams’ Director of Color Marketing, Sue Wadden. Each capsule has its own distinct aesthetic and curation, but they’re all intended to channel “a deeper connection between the colors we love and the lives we lead,” according to a press release.
Chrysalis, for example, caters to fans of classic neutrals with a handful of soothing, earthy tones (read: lots of chic browns) that come off as peaceful and grounding. Paradox, on the other hand, explores slightly bolder paint options, like the cobalt-looking SW 6967 Frank Blue or the raspberry-inspired SW 6855 Dragon Fruit.
As for Wellspring, you’ll find 12 warm neutrals with a little more pizzazz than Chrysalis, including versatile greens and yellows. Kindred is also dedicated to pair-with-anything pops of color, albeit with a range of candy-inspired pastels and darker, somewhat subdued shades.
“With the 2025 Colormix Forecast, we want to invite everyone to immerse themselves in the storytelling world of Capsules: an exploration of the magic contained within the colors, materials, and finishes that will inspire innovation, create connections, and illuminate the future of residential and commercial design,” Wadden added in the press release. “The strength of our color forecasting allows us to anticipate the trends of tomorrow and shape a more vibrant, harmonious, and responsive world.”
All 48 paint colors highlighted in the trend report are now available online and at Sherwin-Williams stores. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed with options, the brand’s site lets you visualize each shade across multiple rooms via digital renderings, or you can upload a photo of your own space. Sherwin-Williams also offers free virtual consults to help determine if a color from Chrysalis or Wellspring is more the vibe for your next paint project — big or small.
