This Silky Cooling Comforter Got Me Through a New York Heat Wave

As much as I love summer, it’s a rough time for me as a hot sleeper, especially without central air-conditioning. I’ve tried it all: setting my fans (yes, there are several) to the highest possible setting and switching up my bedding to supposedly breezier alternatives – but the night sweats get me every single time. What makes the AeroChill comforter so cool? It starts with the nylon-spandex shell, which feels silky-soft and is designed to diffuse heat away from the body to keep you cool through the night. Then there’s the fill: a blend of Sorona fiber – an eco-friendly, partially plant-based material – and TENCEL™ Lyocell, which tout exceptional softness, breathability, and moisture-wicking properties. Together, they give the AeroChill comforter a light, airy feel that promises to keep you feeling fresh all night long. 

The AeroChill comforter is double-stitched in a cute wavy pattern and comes in five colors: Sage, Snow, Thunder, Fog, and Sapphire (I tested Snow, a classic white). 

The AeroChill comforter felt cool right out of the box, which was a great sign. I immediately headed to the laundromat to put it through a wash cycle and prepare it for its first night on my bed. It’s also quite a bit thinner than a regular comforter; it’s more like a plush blanket. But its thinness and airy fill made washing and drying it a lot easier – I didn’t have to put it through multiple drying cycles to get it fully dry. 

The AeroChill comforter really is as silky-soft as it claims to be online. Even my husband commented on its smooth, luxurious feel. I normally use a duvet cover, but I found that I could skip one altogether because the AeroChill feels plenty comfortable on its own. 

Best of all, I haven’t had any night sweats since I started using it. The AeroChill comforter’s lightweight, airy feel doesn’t trap my body heat the way my previous comforters did, so I consistently wake up feeling fresh and dry. And while its thinness took some getting used to, I didn’t find myself craving additional coverage throughout the night. It’s breezy yet substantial enough to make tucking into bed feel like a cozy treat. I will probably want something thicker once winter rolls around, but it’s safe to say that the AeroChill Cooling Comforter is my new go-to bedding for spring and summer.

If you’re a hot sleeper, I think the AeroChill comforter could be one of the best bedding upgrades you make all summer, especially if you live in a hot climate. It might not be your year-round comforter, but it’s well worth bringing out during the warmer months alone – I don’t know how I would have made it through these New York heat waves without it!
