These Are the Most Popular Zip Codes in the U.S.
Space and location are two things that many people often have to decide between when you’re packing up and moving house. Those homes closer to downtown/your job/friends may be smaller, and if it’s space you’re after, it’s likely you’ll have to comprise and add in a little more commute time. According to Opendoor, people searched for homes 19.7 million times in 2021, making it a big year for those who wanted to buy or sell. Opendoor did over 90,000 home assessments, sending on average 3.5 offers per minute and 212 offers per hour, and were also more than half a million Opendoor IRL home visits by potential buyers. But, just where are the most popular locations for homebuyers in the United States?
The digital real estate platform researched the ten hottest zip codes that U.S. homebuyers are calling their own. To find the current most popular ZIP codes, the team analyzed data from the local Multiple Listing Services (MLS) where Opendoor Brokerages operate. Zips were then ranked by total homes which went into contract within 90 days of listing in 2021.
One of the most common factors when it comes to 2021 and 2022’s most popular zip codes? Warmer weather. Many people are flocking to smaller, more affordable cities and suburbs located in some of the states that typically enjoy higher temperatures year-round.
While Tennessee takes the top spot, Texas neighborhoods appear on the list several times, making it the most sought-after state overall. California and Florida also made the list, two states that remain popular for homebuyers of all generations.
Below, the top ten locations that are proving most popular, according to Opendoor.
