This Tiny House Is 500 Square Feet of Modern Design
A sleekly decorated tiny house known as the Abodu 500 is the impressive result of a partnership between Abodu, a US company that specializes in Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and Koto, a British firm that focuses on designing, building and delivering cabins and modular homes.
The diminutive residence offers 500 square feet of space, but thanks to its signature cathedral ceilings, space-maximizing design elements and bright interior, the home feels much more spacious than its meager measurements suggest.
The exterior of the home has an elegant yet easy feel with a cool combination of a standing-seam metal roof and fiber cement cedar siding. A three-panel folding door grants access to the interior, which reveals a smart layout filled with built-in shelving, plus a simple yet functional living space combined with a dining area where a bench-lined window and small table and chairs provide comfortable seating options for residents and guests.
Situated on the other side of the living/dining area is the kitchen, an open space stocked with stainless steel Whirlpool appliances and large sink with Moen fixtures and faucet, black cabinets and white quartz countertops and backsplash. Walking through the kitchen leads through the home’s only bedroom and bathroom. The former boasts built-in closets, while the latter offers comes with premium amenities, including marble shower walls, a Koehler mirrored medicine cabinet and a wall-mounted vanity.
Additionally, the home comes with high-efficiency, dual-paned windows, a smart thermostat and high-efficiency LED lighting. Furniture, internal/external and deck and landscaping upgrades are also available.
Of the architectural partnership, Koto Design’s Johnathan Little said, “We have collaborated closely with Abodu to marry our award-winning design expertise with California’s coastal influence to develop a backyard home that is both beautiful and functional.” For pricing, availability, photos and a virtual walk-through of Abodu 500, visit the company’s website.
