What happens when a tiny home company and a coffee shop owner join forces? It results in some caffeine-infused, architectural magic. Greenville, South Carolina design company Olive Nest Tiny Homes decided to link up with a local coffee shop owner Andrew Carter of Barista Alley to create a 500-square-foot coffee shop named Barista Tiny.

Located in the town of Greer, Barista Tiny holds its post in the most fitting location: right in front of the Lake Walk Tiny Home Community developed by Randy Hanson, who also happens to be the father of Olive Nest’s Melodie Aho.

For the joint project, Aho and her mother Susan Hanson took the reins on designing and building the small structure, while Carter will head up the operations side of the business.  The interior of Barista Tiny is described as having a “Scandinavian Modern” style, with hygge vibes as strong as a cup of black coffee. From the rustic wood tables to the concrete fireplace and white faux fur blankets accessorizing the chairs, Barista Tiny emanates an air of sophistication and comfort. There’s room enough for 15 people on the inside, plus an outdoor seating area accommodates even more patrons. Helping to create the illusion of added elbow room and illuminate the space are the establishment’s floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor lighting.

“It’s art you can sit in,” Aho told Greenville News of the small-scale spot.

For customers who prefer to take their joe on the go, Barista Tiny has a drive-thru. And while the menu is less extensive than Carter’s other coffee and smoothie shop Barista Alley, there’s still something for everyone. Among the many items offered are coffee house staples like cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, Americanos and cold brews, plus a variety of teas, hot chocolates and Scandinavian pastries.

Barista Tiny recently held its grand opening, and we look forward to seeing the mark they make on the tiny coffee shop industry. For more info, visit Barista Alley’s Facebook page.
