Lighting-related searches, such as “lighting,” “lamps,” and “lights,” have experienced a rapid increase within the last 12 months, according to the electrical supplier. With these searches, ElectricalDirect examined search volume and growth to determine the top lightening trends for 2021. The results? According to the report, friendship lamps are the top lighting trend of the year — experiencing a 1957% growth within the last 12 months with over 132,000 annual searches.

It comes as no surprise, too. A friendship lamp syncs to another friendship lamp via WiFi and offers long-distance friends and family to connect with a simple tap — one tap lights up both lamps, offering a creative way to stay connected during the ongoing pandemic. Check out more of the top lighting trends below. 

Mushroom lamps — named after their stout, curved bases and heads that resemble, well, mushrooms — are a top lighting trend, experiencing a 523% search increase with over 47,000 annual searches.

Floor lamps with shelves experienced a 410% search increase with over 100,000 annual searches, offering a multifunctional option to store books, plants, and anything in between.

Neon lights experienced a 340% search increase with over 43,000 annual searches, offering a fun statement piece and splash of color to otherwise dull interior.

Rattan‘s design reign continues with rattan floor lamps experiencing a 326% search increase with over 69,000 annual searches.

Industrial floor lamps experienced a 236% search increase with over 127,000 annual searches, offering a modern, minimalist piece to any room.

Black ceiling lights experienced a 234% search increase with over 413,000 annual searches, offering a luxe, sophisticated touch to any room.

Beaded chandeliers experienced a 175% search increase with over 39,000 annual searches, transforming rooms from drab to fab.
