This Must-See Coffee Table Has the Sneakiest Built-In Storage (It’s So Stylish!)
Thanks to the (lack of) square footage in my living room, I’m always on the hunt for small-space-friendly furniture — but I’ve discovered that a lot of modern brands don’t always deliver in terms of scaled-down dimensions. Some may promise “petite” collections, then offer up an armchair that wouldn’t even fit through my apartment doorframe.
There’s one retailer I can consistently count on for stylish, compact pieces, though: Urban Outfitters. Not only do they have a whole section dedicated to (actual!) small-space furniture, but they also know how to have fun with color and shape across their whole home line.
I was recently browsing the Urban Outfitters site for fun (as one does), and a new piece, the Willow coffee table, caught my eye. I instantly loved the antique-inspired look, soft silhouette, and unique spindled legs, but after I clicked on the product I realized that it also doubles as secret storage.
The Willow comes with a built-in lift top to stash books, remotes, WFH supplies, or any other small knickknacks. The seams are visible from the tabletop when it’s closed, but you can easily disguise this with a lightweight stack of books or magazines, then slide them over whenever you need something inside. If you spend a lot of time in your living room, the lift top also works well as a makeshift laptop stand or dinner spot — just saying!
Measuring 33.5 inches long by 22.8 inches wide by 16.2 inches tall, the coffee table is on the slightly chunkier side, yet still relatively compact compared with most (especially lengthwise). That said, you get plenty of tabletop space to style decorative trays, candles, and more, even with the top portion lifted.
It’s also undoubtedly a splurge at $429, but you’re basically investing in a unique, two-in-one storage piece that feels both classic and cool. The maple wood finish pairs with just about any decor style, too, and the spindle design makes it a true where-did-you-get-that focal point — whether you’ve been looking to elevate your living room or just need more hidden small-space storage.
