With every season comes a different set of clothing, accessories, and gear that’s front and center in your home for a couple of months. For summer, it’s light weight clothing, open toe shoes, and umbrellas. And, while there’s probably lots of time left for the charcoal grill in late August, the clock is ticking on the bicycles, canoe, and pool noodles currently loitering around the house.

This Weekend’s Assignment: Put away the warm-weather gear you’re no longer using, and get rid of anything that’s broken or not useful anymore.

Clean & Toss: Throw away or donate anything that’s no longer of any use to you —either now or in the future — so it doesn’t rear its ugly head next summer. Get everything else clean and ready to get put away until next summer.

Find a Special Place: Take an hour or so to put away the items you’ll be using less frequently, or never, come September. Store those out-of-season items and place them out of sight.
