As AT’s Senior Style Editor, I cover the latest interior design trends, expert decorating ideas, and must-see home products. Whenever I’m not keeping tabs on the next TikTok “core” or buzzy IKEA collection, I’m most likely reading, online shopping, or looking for the best tacos in New York (recs are encouraged).

Despite regularly keeping tabs on new arrivals and collabs from popular home brands, it’s rare that I’ll set foot in an actual store (I haven’t been inside IKEA in years, TBH). Even if I’m shopping for my own apartment, I always prefer browsing online. But when I was home for the holidays this past December, I went to my hometown’s West Elm location for the first time, and a specific decor find stopped me in my tracks: vintage-inspired, reversible rugs.

Turns out, West Elm has an entire section dedicated to reversible patterned rugs, all of which flip over to reveal a completely different design on the back — because the only thing better than a new area rug is two new area rugs for the price of one. And speaking of, they’re fairly comparable to a standard, one-sided West Elm rug, ranging from $99 to $799 in price (including a few under-$250 clearance options!).

These low-pile, reversible styles vary from the same print in two color options to completely different patterns within the same mat. All five available accents skew fairly neutral, though, with classic Persian-inspired designs that can integrate well into any decor scheme. For most, you can also order a handful of sizes, including a runner, as well as swatches for $10. Bonus: They’re shed-resistant and easy to maintain, too.

Check out a few of my favorite West Elm reversible rug picks below, which make the perfect versatile two-in-one decor — it’s like having a built-in, brand new rug (for free!) that you can redecorate with at any time. You’d also never guess these came from West Elm in the first place (and for well under $1,000), thanks to their weathered-looking, vintage-esque vibe.

Azalea Reversible Persian Rug
$299

Choose from two color options — sand or alabaster — and six different dimensions of the Azelea reversible rug. Both surfaces have the same palette, yet give you two patterns to pick from that will instantly elevate any bedroom, living room, or hallway.

Kay Reversible Persian Rug
$299$230

The Kay rug only comes in a 5’ by 8’ size, but it’s currently on sale for $229.99. Both sides have the exact same geometric design, but one in a rust coloration and the other a distressed-looking navy. Either way, the darker coloring would function well in a high-traffic dining room or kitchen, or add contrast to a light-toned bedroom or small living room.

Ana Reversible Persian Rug
$299

If you’re looking for two completely unique designs, the Ana rug offers the most distinct reversible options: one side with a light pink-toned pattern and another with entirely new motifs and a very subtle green coloring. Both still feel muted enough to function in the same room, though, in case you do swap out the front-facing side for an entirely new look.

Malia Reversible Persian Rug
$299

For something a little darker, either positioning of the Malia reversible rug feels perfect for any neutral-heavy space. It’s predominantly brown on either side, although one pattern leans slightly softer and lighter than the other.
