I Found the Most Gorgeous Lift-Up Storage Bed for Small Spaces, and I Can’t Get Over Its Unbelievably Low Price

Less than a year ago, I was browsing storage bed frames online. Because I have such a small bedroom, I wanted a frame that could serve as a supplement to my closet and keep out-of-season clothes hidden away. Unfortunately, most of the models within my budget were quite ugly. I lost count of how many bed frames I saw with built-in multicolored LED lights — I mean, who needs that? The metal and engineered wood frames that kept popping up in my shopping feeds also bothered me; they just looked so cheap.

Eventually, I gave up on trying to find an inexpensive yet fashionable storage bed and opted for an extra tall steel frame, which I conceal with my bed coverings. It’s not the cutest, but I am able to shove storage bins under it.

But I recently came across a bed on Amazon that I wish I had seen last year. The Amerlife upholstered lift-up storage bed looks way more expensive than its $350 price, and it offers tons of space for extra linens and clothing. Even though I already have a bed, I’m definitely bookmarking this find.

This bed frame is available in either a queen or king size, and it comes in four neutral upholstery fabric colors. It has a tall wingback headboard — 51 inches tall, to be exact — and a minimalist platform base. Where the frame really shines, though, is its huge storage compartment. The slatted steel mattress surface features a pull tab at the bottom end, which you tug on to lift the base and reveal the spacious compartment underneath. An anti-fall device near the headboard keeps the base propped up, letting you organize your clothing bins and shoeboxes for as long as you need.

You’ll also be happy to learn that the bed frame comes with all of the tools needed for a quick and hassle-free assembly, and it can support mattresses up to 16 inches tall. You don’t need a box spring, which is always a plus when shopping for beds. 

The first thing I thought when I saw this bed frame was that it looks like something I could find at Lulu & Georgia or West Elm for upwards of $1,000. I adore the easy-to-style neutral upholstery, especially the Khaki color, which is stain-resistant according to the product description. The fabric also looks and feels like linen, which further adds to the bed’s luxurious appearance.

In addition to its high-quality fabric, the bed’s headboard helps it look extra expensive. Personally, I find this style of headboard to be incredibly cozy, especially when it’s on the taller side. This design element, coupled with the clean platform base, make the frame a real stunner.

And there’s no getting over the bed’s hydraulic lifting mechanism and huge storage compartment. As someone who rents in NYC, I know a couple of people with hydraulic lift-up beds, and I’ve only ever heard good things about the convenience and functionality. I can just imagine how nice it would be to basically have an entire second closet in my room for sheets, heavy winter coats, shoes, and more.

For such a great price, this lift-up bed is a no-brainer. If I didn’t already have a bed, I would be adding it to my shopping cart as we speak. In any case, it’s definitely a frame you’ll want to keep an eye on. A furniture swap might be in store soon.
