This Cozy Bouclé Storage Ottoman Is Perfect for Small Spaces (It’s So Versatile!)
I love my home’s open concept layout. It makes my space feel light and airy, and I enjoy being able to see everything, everywhere, all at once. It’s especially great when my husband and I have family and friends over because guests can mingle and move around easily.
One of my biggest gripes with an open layout, though, is that I can see everything, everywhere, all at once — including the mountain of throw blankets on the couch and the little pile of to-be-read books on the coffee table. Every time I see my mess out in the open, I set a mental reminder to clean it up … and then promptly forget.
But ever since I got the Article Maribo Bouclé 19″ Storage Ottoman in the spring, it’s helped hide some of my living room’s biggest annoyances, and as the holiday season gets closer, it’ll help me tidy up my space quicker, too.
What’s So Great About the Article Maribo Bouclé 19″ Storage Ottoman?
Everything to know and love about the Article Maribo Bouclé 19″ Storage Ottoman is right in the name. It’s a small-space-friendly storage ottoman outfitted in a cozy bouclé fabric. I have the ivory colorway that looks like it was made for my neutral living room, but the ottoman is also available in sandstone wool bouclé as well as rawhide tan leather.
I love my entryway storage bench from Article so I had some expectations for the Maribo, but this versatile ottoman totally exceeded any preconceived notions. It has a small footprint, but the roomy interior is generously sized, and the aesthetics are giving major cozy vibes. No wonder it was selected as the best storage ottoman in the small-space category of our Organization Awards.
I have the Maribo ottoman in my living room by an accent chair from the Interior Define x Jason Wu collaboration (sadly, it’s been discontinued), and it creates the perfect little reading nook. Previously, I had throw blankets on the couch, a book on the coffee table, and a drink in the kitchen. Now, they’re all in one place.
When the lid is closed, you’d barely be able to tell that the Maribo is a storage ottoman. But when you crack open the lid, you’ll see that the generous interior can fit up to three oversized throw blankets — four if you drape the last one over the sides of the ottoman — and a book or two.
The Maribo is about 18 pounds when empty, but even with the weight of a few blankets, it’s easy enough for me to push or carry it wherever I need. There’s also always been extra room for a few last-minute things to throw in before guests arrive. The ottoman can sit up to 250 pounds so it’s great for extra seating, too.
The 19-inch version of the Maribo that I have is perfect for cozy spaces and little nooks, but there’s also a 32-inch and a 48-inch version that’d be great for bedrooms and larger spaces. I can’t decide which of the two I’d want next, but whichever one you invest in is sure to maximize storage and minimize visual clutter in any space — and who doesn’t want that?
