As much as I wish I could, I can’t do much to make my New York City apartment feel more like a spa. First off, I rent, so I can’t make any drastic changes. It’s also extremely small, so I don’t have room for things like a towel warmer or a bench. Nope, it’s pretty much the basics only, and even those I have trouble squeezing into the small space. In fact, I struggled to find a storage solution for my towels until I installed a wall-mounted organizer that completely changed the game.

One thing I can do to make my space a little nicer? Indulge in some quality bath towels. Before I started testing home products for a living, I stuck with a too-thin set that I randomly grabbed at Target — I had no idea what I was missing out on before I started trying out some splurgy options made of Turkish and Egyptian cotton. Recently, I just tried out a new type that might just be the most cozy — and fastest-drying — towel out of the bunch. I’m talking about BADESOFA’s Luxury Terry Towel Set, which includes two super-cozy oversized bath sheets that come in three sizes.

What Is the Badesofa Luxury Terry Towel Set?

The name BADESOFA might ring a bell if you’ve come across the German company’s bath pillows, which bring sofa-like comfort to your tub. (Hence its name, which means “bath sofa” in German.) In fact, in 2023, we were totally impressed by the spa-worthy pillows, with our reviewer writing that they really do “look and feel like they’ve been plucked from your living room sofa.” (As a bath lover, I’m seriously considering grabbing one of these next.)

The brand expanded its line of home products with its terry towel set, and it’s just as luxurious as I expected after reading about the pillows. Terry is a special kind of weave with tiny looped pieces of thread; it results in a higher absorbency and a soft feel. The set is Portuguese-made using 100% premium cotton, and it comes in three neutral colors  — all of which are designed to match other BADESOFA products. (That’s yet another sign I should grab the pillow!)

The best part? The two included bath sheets are oversized no matter which size you order (extra small/small, medium, and large), as are the two hand towels. If you’ve never seen the term before, bath sheets are essentially extra large towels, providing more coverage. They’re usually what spas or hotels keep on hand.

Why I Love the Badesofa Luxury Terry Towel Set

After tossing the towels in the washing machine, I was eager to try out these bath sheets as soon as I felt how soft they were. Though I had to leave them out to air-dry a bit, they held up well in the washer and dryer with no pulled threads or shedding. I’d never tried a bath sheet before I grabbed this set, and I have no idea why I waited so long — I don’t think I’ll ever go back to buying normal-size towels again! The extra material helps me dry up faster, and I feel significantly cozier when I stay wrapped up in it while getting ready. I’m 5’2”, and the towel hits close to my knees. I don’t feel the need to pull out my robe nearly as often.

I’ve appreciated the extra coverage, especially since it’s been so cold in New York City. Even my bathroom gets drafty! So I’ve been reaching for these bath sheets even more than my fluffier options — I think they strike the perfect balance between thin and thick — to block the chill. Most bath sheets are more difficult to store because of their larger size, but I’ve found that the BADESOFA bath sheet rolls up well and fits easily on my towel rack. (I’m constantly using one of them, but I keep the other in the set stowed away before switching them out.)

What’s more, it stays secure on my towel hook thanks to the hanging loop! Granted, due to its length, the bath sheet does nearly hit the edge of my tub from where it’s draped. However, that small drawback doesn’t really impact its performance for me. The loop along with the interesting texture, extra surface area, soft feel, perfect weight — those are all reasons I’ve been recommending this splurgy set to everyone. Now I just have to finally get my hands on the bath pillow and make my NYC bathroom feel truly spa-like.
