Vintage dressers are a bathroom renovator’s best friend, as they can lend a healthy dose of character to the old W.C. for a fraction of the price of most (boring) made-to-order vanities. What’s more is, if you know how to drill a hole into wood, you’re half way to repurposing your own vintage dresser into a vanity/ sink console. Here, we’ve rounded up some of the drool-worthiest dresser-turned-vanities currently in existence to help you with the other half of the process: deciding which dresser to use.

We adore the pretty pink dresser above, found in Brianna Heiligenthal’s stunning Minneapolis home seen on Wit & Delight. The dusty pink paint and sweet scalloped detailing transforms her master bathroom into a Parisian powder room that bathroom dreams are made of (what…you don’t dream about bathrooms?).

The sleek mid-century console found in Brepurposed‘s bathroom is testament to the simplicity of the dresser-turned-vanity process: the above ensuite renovation was completed in just six weeks! To keep your bathroom feeling clean and uncluttered, a simple, streamlined mid-century modern piece is a great way to go.

Opting for a “warmer” vibe, Renee from Park & Oak chose this antique French empire chest after an arduous hunt for the perfect piece with the right dimensions. Expert tip: make sure to have your exact measurements in mind before you start your search, or heartbreak will most definitely ensue.

Another, slightly more involved, option for repurposing your dresser is to make it a floating vanity. Here, Sarah Sherman Samuel mounted a super simple dresser, finished with a clean marble counter top and double vessel porcelain sinks.

Style guru Emily Henderson is no stranger to repurposing vintage. Here, a petite mid-century modern dresser-turned-vanity doesn’t compete with the complex geometric tiles underneath. Check out the details over at Emily Henderson Design.

Not all bathrooms have the luxury of space, often making the hunt for the perfect piece all the more difficult. Bryan and Catherine Williamson scored this petite vintage cabinet at a local antique store that happened to fit perfectly into their historic townhouse bathroom in Columbus, Ohio. Head over to Design*Sponge for the full tour.

Fitting your dresser with a more water-friendly counter top, like the marble slab seen here, is another option to consider when customizing your vanity. Sfgirlbybay got the full scoop on this master bathroom renovation by designer Kirsten Grove.

We first saw this traditional antique buffet vanity back in 2011 in Michele & Ryan Tansey’s Antiquarian Hideaway. Six years later, it stands the test of time with that classic, antique aesthetic.

Older antique pieces, as opposed to mid-century and newer, tend to feel more refined and traditional. Here, combining a gorgeous French dresser with matching brass and crystal sconces makes for a highly sophisticated sink situation. You know Country Living has all the details on this one.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to fully customize your vanity, like this gorgeous Casework piece. Feel free to match your countertop to your floor tile, change out the knobs, paint it, add towel bars, etc.

So, whether your John is a Johnny (fun and funky), a Jonathan (refined and traditional), or a Jon with no “h” (downright unconventional), vintage dressers come in all shapes, sizes, and styles, and finding one that suits your bathroom vanity needs is as easy as 1 and 2 (if you know what we mean…).
