8 Smart Storage Ideas for Teeny Tiny Bathrooms
When my husband and I bought our house a few years ago, we didn’t really mind that it only had one bathroom. We could always add another one down the road, I reasoned. But, one thing I neglected to think about was the single bathroom’s functionality: It is tiny, and as a result, didn’t have a lot of storage space.
So for the past three years, I’ve been finding creative ways to store our toiletries in a small space, without making it look cluttered. Here are some ideas to keep your bathroom space neat and functional.
Hang baskets for extra TP.
Short on cabinet or closet real estate? Try hanging wire baskets above your toilet for storing toilet paper and other bathroom essentials. Crate shelves would also work for a more rustic look.
Use an over-the-door shoe organizer for toiletries.
If you need extra space for toiletries like shampoo, soap, and face wash, hang a shoe organizer on your bathroom door. I like an organizer with clear pockets so you can quickly see and grab what you need.
Install a magnetic strip for odds and ends.
Small items like bobby pins, tweezers, and nail clippers can quickly contribute to clutter in drawers or on counters. Solve that problem by installing a magnetic strip on a wall or inside a cabinet!
Hang bathroom cleaning supplies from a towel bar.
Towel bars aren’t just for linens: You can also hang bathroom cleaning supplies from them! If you don’t love the idea of storing your Windex and all-purpose cleaner out in the open (or hogging needed towel-rod space on your wall), install a towel bar on the inside of your vanity cabinet. If that won’t work, try a small tension rod inside the cabinet walls!
Corral skincare products and makeup with a Lazy Susan.
We love Lazy Susans around here because they make everyday items so much more accessible (just give it a quick spin!), all the while keeping things neat. Make the most of the storage space you do have and add a Lazy Susan to store cleaning supplies in a cabinet or toiletries on a counter. For smaller items, like skincare of makeup, opt for a two-tiered Lazy Susan for extra space!
Use a wine rack for extra towels.
A durable, hanging wine rack isn’t just for the kitchen. You can also install one on your bathroom wall for corralling extra, rolled-up hand or bath towels above the toilet!
Install spice racks for extra toiletry storage.
Another tip from the kitchen: Grab a couple of spice racks and install them on a bathroom wall for extra toiletry storage. The IKEA BEKVAM is cost effective and aesthetically pleasing!
Get instant storage with a bar cart.
If you have the space, wheel in a bar cart for instant shelving. Keep things neat with bins or baskets on lower shelves, and store everyday toiletries on top.
