Call it an occupational hazard, but I absolutely love browsing (as a shopping writer, it’s kinda my thing). Perusing every corner of a store’s virtual or IRL storefront, preferably with an iced coffee in hand, is my idea of a perfect afternoon. It’s also a great way to scratch the itch to splurge in a store that’s out of my price range, without causing my bank account any real harm. The only caveat, though, is if you look as hard as I do you’ll find surprisingly affordable buys. A prime example? Design Within Reach.

The modern design store is one of my favorite browsing hotspots. It’s stocked full with authentic, stylish pieces by storied brands and designers (that have inspired thousands of products — it’s your favorite store’s favorite store!). I’ve always admired their stuff, but never invested due to the high price tags. After searching every corner of the store, though, I discovered that sneakily affordable buys were surprisingly well within reach. Read on for the most impressive findings under $200 (plus, quite a few are on sale!).

The 15 Best Buys from Design Within Reach Under $200

Weylyn Candelabra
$168

If you’re committed to the curvy design trend, check out this stunning (handmade!) candelabra. Its wavy silhouette is a sculptural work of art, if you ask me, and brings a bit of whimsy and drama to a dining room tablescape. It comes in cream and black ceramic, and would look just perfect with some colorful tapered candles.

HAY Recycled Colour Crate
$8$6

These editor-loved, collapsible storage crates have a cult following for a reason. For one, they’re surprisingly affordable, starting at $11 for a 2-pack of minis. They’re also incredibly versatile and can be used to organize any corner of your home, from your linen closet to your bathroom vanity. But the best part has to be all of the super-stylish color options!

Case Trove Box
$40$32

Take your desktop from cluttered to cute with this cork storage box. The modular design comes in different sizes and depths that are all stackable, so you can build your own personalized organization system. The clean and tactile design brings an elevated edge to any room in your home, too.

Dusen Dusen Dash Pillow
$115$92

You’ll also find the editor-favorite brand Dusen Dusen in DWR’s pages. The brand’s Dash Pillow brings a bold pop of color to your sofa or bedding with its graphic embroidery. And DWR shoppers rave about how well-made it is, with one review saying, “Beyond the pattern and bright rich colors, the craftsmanship is apparent. Every stitch and detail is exquisite.”

Ferm Living Grib Toolbox
$125

This ultra-modern find is so much more than a “tool box.” It’s a design-forward cleaning caddy, a stylish way to store kitchen items and utensils, a craft organizer, a basket for your bedside essentials … the list goes on. Its powder-coated iron material and sleek ovular shape will make whatever you put inside look 10x more stylish.

HAY PC Portable Lamp
$99$79

Design Within Reach has so many beautiful lamps, but this one by HAY really impressed me with its Copenhagen-cool aesthetic, portable design, and under-$100 price point. The lamp is as durable as it is decorative; it features a water- and scratch-resistant design so you can enjoy its soft glow wherever you go (whether you’re dining al fresco or reading around the fire).

HAY Pao Portable Lamp
$195$156

Again, the HAY lamps are just too good. While many have tried to replicate the Pao’s mushroom design, nothing comes close to the real thing. The compact lamp delivers a warm, ambient glow that’s comparable to candlelight, and the glossy cherry-hued exterior is the perfect unexpected red.

Muuto Ridge Vase
$145$116

Even if you’re not in the habit of buying fresh flowers, you’ll want to shop this sculptural vase. With its tactile ridges and rounded form, it pulls its weight in the decor department — flowers or not. Curved divots add artful detail and double as handles for easy styling in any room. It’s available in glass or ceramic styles, too!

Heller Swell Wall Hanger
$100$85

Designed by a California surfer, the Swell’s wavy design is more than an homage to the big ocean blue. It’s an incredibly practical place to store your keys, totes, umbrella, and anything else you need before you rush out the door. It’s essentially a wall hook and catch-all dish in one smart and stylish piece.

Ferm Living Uneru Pot
$65

I don’t have the gift of a green thumb, but if I did you know I’d have this beautiful clay plant pot on deck. Each one is totally unique, and features an unglazed exterior for a rough, earthy texture. The harsh texture contrasts beautifully with the smooth glazed interior and soft, undulating edge. It’s a treat for the senses!

SIN Bacchus Bookends
$150

Lovers of an artfully curated shelfscape will get a lot of joy out of these handmade stoneware bookends. The weighty looped shape securely hugs your books in place, and looks great doing it! They even look good solo for a purely decorative moment.

HAY Don’t Leave Me Side Table
$245$196

This clever little side table boasts a lightweight but sturdy steel profile, complete with a handle that allows you to carry it from room to room. Its stylish, compact shape is especially useful in small spaces, where every piece of furniture counts. Use it as a side table, nightstand, catch-all surface at your entryway, or all of the above!

HAY Rice Paper Shade
$99$79

While you may find pretenders all over the internet, this iconic Scandi-cool shade is the real deal. The rice paper material diffuses the most perfect ambient glow, and can even be customized with HAY’s colorful cord and pendant sets. It immediately makes any room look 10x more inviting.

Cobra Serving Bowl
$129$103

This mirror-polished bowl stuns with its gleaming finish and gorgeous curved edges. I honestly think it’s too pretty to use as serveware. I say use it as a perch for your most prized jewelry and accessories, or make it the focal point of your coffee table with a couple of matchbooks. Wherever you put it, someone will notice — and compliments will follow.

Design House Stockholm Knot Pillow
$145$87

You won’t be able to resist cuddling this cool knotted pillow. Its playful tubular form looks like it’d be a total delight to fidget with during scary movies or high-stakes dramas. The refreshing, unique take on a traditional throw pillow shape immediately elevates the look of your sofa, too. And there are lots of design-y color options to choose from!
