Now … listen. I like scented candles as much as the next person, but there’s a new item at Costco that is testing my love in ways I could have never imagined. Spotted by a Reddit user from Maryland, there’s a 90-ounce candle on the Costco warehouse floor right now that is, as they eloquently pointed out, the size of a trash can.

“Costco, I love you … but who is buying a $90 candle the size of a trash can?!” the Reddit user titled their post. “Normally even if a product isn’t my vibe, I understand the market. This just seems silly! It was literally the size of a small bathroom trash can, even if I wanted to buy one I have no idea where I’d put it, and the wicks look way too small.”

And it’s true. It’s all true. The candle is the Antiga 1860 Luxury Candle, and it’s also available to purchase via Costco’s website if your store doesn’t carry it. It has a whopping 150-hour burn time, comes in either an Amber or Sandalwood scent, and sits just under nine inches tall and seven inches wide. It’s also $100.

Despite that Redditor’s skepticism, more than a few commenters said they may add this behemoth to their cart during their next shopping trip.

“My wife. My wife is buying that $90 candle the size of a trash can,” one person commented, getting over 3,000 upvotes. Another person said, “My boyfriend loves candles. He would absolutely buy this ridiculous candle.”

“Yes hello, I am the target demographic for this,” another commenter fessed up. “I will take three and my husband will hate me for it.”

Hilariously, the original poster returned to their Costco a couple days later to get dog food, and noticed that the candle is now sold out. “I can admit when I’m wrong!” they wrote. “I thought I’d gloat over the pile of untouched trash can candles and maybe take a pic with a banana for scale, like so many asked for. Instead, I found the candle endcap gone – apparently so many people wanted giant candles that they sold out in three days!”

Costco isn’t the first one to put an utterly gigantic candle up for sale. Voluspa sells a whopper 123-ounce, five-wick candle for over $200, so I guess the Antiga version is a steal. And as other commenters pointed out, these are technically hearth candles, which are great if you have a fireplace.

If you do the girl math and compare ounces and prices of other candles, you’re probably saving yourself time and money by picking up this giant one rather than buying multiple smaller scented candles, right? So why not go for it. At the very least, you’ll have yourself an instant conversation starter.
