Costco’s New Mini Fridges Are So Retro, and They Come in Cherry Red or Deep Black
When I think about mini fridges, I think about my freshman year of college, when I lived in a tiny room with three people, no kitchen, and one mini fridge. Our mini fridge was our lifeline, but it wasn’t particularly nice to look at; it felt a bit like an afterthought.
But all this time, I could have had the cutest mini-fridge ever, if only I knew where to look. Right now, there’s one cute retro-inspired model available at Costco. It could be a great (and great-looking) addition to not just college dorms, but also garages, basements, bedrooms, game rooms, offices, and studio apartments.
What Is the Frigidaire Retro Compact Fridge at Costco?
I first came across these fun, funky Frigidaire retro compact fridges in a video by @costcohotfinds. The two gleaming retro-style fridges, one a deep cherry red and one sleek black, have a rectangular design with rounded edges, no visible door handles, and a large clear glass window on the front, so you can easily see what’s inside. The fridge has four shelves and is small but not too small, measuring 19.5 inches wide, 17.7 inches deep, and 32.5 inches tall. It can hold 102 cans.
The fridge is $199.99 in-store or $249.99 online, but per the video’s comment section, it’s only available at Costco warehouses in some states.
An Old-Fashioned Fridge to Shop if You Don’t Have a Costco Membership
If you can’t find this sleek mini fridge at your local Costco, or just don’t have a membership, Frigidaire sells other small retro-inspired fridges elsewhere. With its tempered glass door and built-in bartop, the 3.1-cubic-foot Frigidaire retro cooler at Wayfair, currently on sale for $269.99, has a slightly different design from Costco’s model. It can hold 117 cans, chills down to 37°F, and measures 34.5 inches tall, 17.6 inches wide, and 18.1 inches deep. It still offers plenty of sophisticated vintage flair, but in more colors: white, mint green, merlot red, and black.
Alternatively you could get the same retro-style fridge as the Costco one at The Home Depot, but only in a bright blue colorway.
