I’m Obsessed with My Bed and Thought It Couldn’t Get Any Better — Until I Tried This New Organic Mattress Topper
I love my bed — I love reading in bed, working in bed, scrolling TikTok in bed, and, of course, sleeping in my bed. Fun fact, my initials even spell “bed.” More specifically, I L-O-V-E my current mattress and bedding, so much so that I’ve been hesitant to try or buy anything new because, well, my current sleeping set-up is it, folks.
After visiting a friend in California last month, though, and experiencing her fit-for-royalty bed with a four-inch, super-plush mattress topper, I started questioning if I, too, needed an extra layer of mattress-topping coziness on my own bed. I’ve never used a mattress topper at all, and truthfully always thought they were somewhat unnecessary — if I already had a comfy mattress, what was the point?
But by happenstance, while doing some initial mattress topper research, a brand new organic sleep company, Earthfoam, reached out to me about testing one of their three just-launched products: a pillow, mattress, or mattress topper. Naturally, I chose the latter (because did I mention I love my mattress!?), and am actually so glad I did, despite swearing off any new bed accessories.
I’ll admit, I’m not a huge fan of sleeping on anything particularly firm, and my mattress skews slightly softer, so night one with Earthfoam’s two-inch-thick mattress topper was a bit of an adjustment — which, is fully to be expected after 1.5+ years of the exact same bed routine. But from sleep number two onward, I’ve instantly appreciated this extra layer for the way it’s designed to feel: firm and supportive, yes, but also incredibly gentle.
That’s thanks to Earthfoam’s sustainable construction which, as the company name implies, actually ties back to trees. Yep, what sets this mattress topper (and the brand’s corresponding mattress and pillow) apart from the rest is its signature “earthfoam” material, a 100% natural rubber that’s sourced from tree sap via fair-trade farmers in Sri Lanka. The better-on-the-Earth topper also features organic wool and cotton finishes for extra comfort.
I’ve only slept on this a few nights so far, but it hasn’t budged once (major, coming from a severe tosser and turner), and makes me even more excited to get into my bed — which I didn’t think could be possible, TBH. I also have a fairly low-to-the-ground platform bed frame, sans box spring, so I love that the topper has added a little extra height and gives my bed a more ~sophisticated~ look overall. And best of all, my current queen-sized sheets and quilt still fit on top perfectly, even with the added thickness.
Earthfoam’s organic mattress topper comes in sizes twin to California king, ranging from $299 to $399. Which, as I discovered while shopping for styles last month, is actually fairly reasonable compared to other equally high-quality designs out there, not to mention this one has a much more sustainable ethos. And honestly, it’s way cheaper than an entirely new mattress, especially if you’re not feeling enough comfort and support from the one you’re currently snoozing on. Basically, if you’re looking for a firm-but-not-too-firm, built-to-last, not-overly-thick organic mattress topper that can make any bed feel brand new, night after night, this is the one. One important note, though: It makes getting out of bed in the morning that much harder. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
