Reader Hannah sent in her steps for creating a quick and inexpensive blast of color in her living room. For less than $20, she added a small area rug to her gray, gray, gray space.

Hannah purchased three cotton rag rugs from Target ($3.99 each) and a skein of red cotton yarn ($4.99). With two lengths of a simple stitch, she turned three rugs into one small area rug.

Instructions

It couldn’t be easier — simply place two rugs tightly together and whip-stitch them so that the connection is tight and strong.

We love the color choices Hannah made — the red and turquoise work really well together. Thanks for sharing!
