She Covered Her Tissue Box with This $7 Amazon Find, So I Copied Her
At my house, you’re never more than 5 feet away from a tissue box. I have bad seasonal allergies, not to mention the fact that I’m also allergic to my own cat — so I usually keep several boxes of tissues around at all times. As much as I hate being congested, I also don’t love the look of the bulk tissue boxes I buy; they clash with my curated living room. So when I heard that tissue box covers were making a comeback, I knew I’d have to get in on this trend.
I saw Apartment Therapy cover the rise of this budget find a few weeks ago, when a woven fabric tissue box cover sold on Amazon was going viral for being super-cute (and cheap!). I had previously contemplated other designs, but none felt quite right, and I never found the time to DIY a tissue box cover myself. But these patterned fabric covers from Amazon were simple, easy, cheap, and chic. They might actually add to my decor, I thought, not detract from it. So I bought one — and it did not disappoint!
Amazon’s $7 Tissue Box Cover Adds Whimsy to My WFH Desk
I’ve been trying to add some edgier accents to my home, so when I saw this dark floral brocade fabric, I just fell in love. The second I placed it over the bright blue tissue box, it was like the whole room breathed a sigh of relief! As I work at my desk, I’m no longer distracted by the eyesore that kept popping up in my field of vision. It feels so much more finished, intentional, and mature.
The cover is thin, but it still looks pretty sturdy. I love the subtle texture of the fabric and the visual intrigue of the dark florals; this detail actually adds so much interest to an otherwise forgotten corner of my desk. Given that it’s just below my wall calendar, I look at this area a lot while I work; now, at last, there’s something worth looking at. And for just $6.99, it’s such a big improvement for not a lot of money.
Getting Creative with Functional Decor Is Key in Small Spaces
Pieces that both look good and keep your home functioning are so important — especially when it comes to small-space living. I can only store so much away in my limited cabinetry and drawer space. So when it comes to things like tissues, which need to be readily accessible, camouflage is the only way to keep my space looking seamlessly styled.
Now I can keep my tissues by my side, without ever having to see that aquamarine cardboard again. I’m already planning to buy another for my nightstand, too. At this rate, I feel inclined to put one in every room of my home — and I’m totally cool with that!
