I write about house tours (but I love a good kitchen and kids' room article). My work can be found across AT Media, including The Kitchn and Cubby. I’ve been writing about home-related topics for nearly five years and love seeing how people make their homes unique.

Imagine comfortably living in 300 square feet alone — and then picture adding another person into the mix. No one understands this dilemma better than multidisciplinary artist Maggie Beckett, who shares a cozy 320-square-foot apartment with her husband. Because the apartment has no real closets, every wall has to work harder in terms of storage. Maggie already embraced the beloved IKEA PAX wardrobes to create an XL closet, but she turned to another space-saving IKEA find for the living room’s opposing wall.

The living area has three walls: one with the aforementioned IKEA PAX wardrobes, one with two large windows, and one with the TV mounted onto it. But Maggie needed a place to work, so she used two best-selling IKEA BLÅLIDEN cabinets to turn that TV wall into a workspace that looks light and airy and feels like it’s an expensive built-in.

Two IKEA Cabinets Turned a TV Wall into Hidden-in-Plain-Sight Storage

Maggie installed two IKEA BLÅLIDEN cabinets on top of a desk that framed the television. What makes the cupboards special is that they’re made of glass, which gives them an illusion of not taking up as much space.

Over the two cabinets, Maggie placed a white shelf to store and display additional decorative items. Adding the top shelf makes the disparate pieces look like a built-in media console that was always meant to be together as one. Plus, the four glass shelves proudly display gorgeous wine glasses and pitchers, turning everyday pieces into part of the decor.

The cabinets, which have been given a five-star rating by over 200 people, are marked as a “Last Chance” item. So if you’re struggling with limited space and want to add tons of storage without purchasing a bulky item, then now is the time to consider the IKEA BLÅLIDEN cabinets.

Maggie isn’t the only person who got great use out of these cabinets. “Sturdy, minimal frame, great price, the small size will fit anywhere perfectly,” an IKEA shopper wrote online. Dora, another shopper, added, “I am in love with this item. It has a very sophisticated look, good quality and at a very affordable price. Like everything at IKEA!”

Small spaces can seriously benefit from vertical pieces like these cabinets. Follow Maggie’s inspiration and grab a set of IKEA BLÅLIDEN cabinets to beautifully store your items and make an underused wall work harder.
