IKEA’s $20 Solid Wood Find Added Ample Storage to This Tiny Entryway
An entryway is the first thing that greets guests and sets the mood for the rest of the home. It’s also the area where family members ditch their shoes, bags, and jackets after a long day, which can quickly become a chaotic dumping ground. If this sounds a bit like your house, and you’re looking for a way to easily corral clutter, take some advice from a family that lives in a Manhattan apartment.
Sarah Almodovar, her husband Peterson, and their three young children share a 750-square-foot space that feels so much larger than that from the moment you walk in. That’s thanks, in large part, to clever vertical storage solutions like IKEA’s $20 TJUSIG hanger in the entryway.
IKEA’s $20 Hanger Totally Organized a Tiny Entryway’s Clutter
“When you first come in you’re in our entryway. It’s kind of small, but we’ve tried to maximize the space for five people coming in and out every day,” Sarah explained in the video above. She took two of IKEA’s TJUSIG hangers and stacked them on top of one another to get the most of their tall ceilings.
Sarah said she wanted her home to have a “balance between function and aesthetics,” and the TJUSIG hangers are a great example of that. The hanger, which is almost 31 inches tall, resembles a vertical branch that’s crawling up the wall with six smaller stems (the spots to hang clothing and/or bags) standing out.
The TJUSIG hanger was designed by Henrik Preutz, who has been creating pieces for the Swedish brand since 2003. It’s made of solid wood, meaning it’ll be durable and sturdy to hold onto anything. Over 600 people have given it a five-star rating on IKEA’s website, and there’s no surprise that there are several comments praising the piece.
“Works well in small area. Doesn’t take up floor space. Lower rack is perfect height for smaller kids to hang coats,” a shopper wrote on IKEA’s website. Another person added, “Love it! Gets things off the floors. Bought three. One for each kid to put their coats, robes, backpacks, etc. Simple and functional!”
IKEA’s TJUSIG hanger doesn’t just work in entryways; several people have put it in their closets for accessory storage or behind bathroom doors for towel storage. It’s a piece made to make your life easier, while also adding a bit of fun to your walls. To see how Sarah organized the rest of her home, visit the full House Tour.
