Joanna Gaines’ Newest Collection Is Full of Gingham Rugs, Proving This Homey Pattern Is Truly a Neutral

As any original fan of Fixer Upper can tell you, it has been a joy to watch Joanna Gaines build her inspiring, helpful, homey empire. The HGTV icon’s collaborations always live up to the hype — and just in time for fall, Magnolia Home and Loloi Rugs are celebrating 10 years of their artistic collaboration by releasing a new collection. And some of the patterns used in this gorgeous line are signaling some new trends that I’m loving for the upcoming cozy season. 

To kick off the celebrations, Magnolia Home and Loloi Rugs have released seven new rug styles (with multiple colorways!) and a selection of pillows, too. Although these two beloved brands have already released many gorgeous pieces for over a decade, this new anniversary collection feels new and fresh — all while still maintaining the age-old timelessness that’s so integral to Joanna’s aesthetic. They’re all so good that it’s hard to pick a favorite, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the range sells out soon.

The new drop includes seven styles organized into distinct groupings: the Laken Collection (raised jute stripes), Lucille Collection (inspired by Turkish Oushak designs), Merritt Collection (classic, two-toned plaid), Oakley Collection (old-world), Ridge Collection (ribbed jute flat weave), Storrie Collection (think: Turkish medallion and floral), and Winslet Collection (whimsical floral vines). While they’re all different and distinctly beautiful in their own ways, there are three that rise to the top of my list.

First is the Merritt Collection, specifically in its Ivory/Sky colorway. With the “Modern Folklore” design style dominating our feeds (essentially, Americana meets softer, quiet, cottage-y vibes), this gingham print with the light blue feels right on trend. It works in coastal, rustic, or farmhouse spaces and does so much more than a regular plaid rug; the fringed edges actually continue the striped motif into the details. It’s comfortable underfoot, too, as it’s made of hand-loomed wool, cotton, and polyester. 

I highly doubt any of the rugs will go out of style in the future, but if you want a guarantee of timelessness, I’d go with the Laken Collection. I’m really into neutral palettes, particularly in brown, which is why my favorite is Joanna’s stunning Chocolate/Natural colorway.

At first glance, this looks like a traditional jute rug (which it is, as it’s made almost entirely of hand-woven jute!) — but this new style adds a chromatic pop of color at its ends that looks beautifully tonal. This rug collection says a lot without saying much. For example, the elevated vertical stripes add dimension and texture to any room without needing maximalist palettes. And if you’re looking for a consciously crafted piece made with non-toxic materials, rest assured this jute collection is OEKO-TEX certified.

Whimsy might be the word of the year when it comes to design. People want their homes to feel cozy or like an escape from the hustle and bustle of the digital world. The Winslet Collection, in my opinion, looks like you’re stepping into an English garden. All of the colorways are so good, but I’m particularly obsessed with the floral rug in Latte and Navy. It’s made from 100% wool — so it not only looks beautiful, but it’s also very durable and stands up to a busy household.

Just as the temperatures are falling and I’m beginning to dream of cozy fireside nights, I feel like Joanna Gaines and her creative pals at Loloi designed this collection for wistful homebodies like me. The new Magnolia Home x Loloi Rugs drop definitely has a cozy vibe that you’ve been dying to find for your floors — and whichever rug you choose, it’ll work its magic beyond fall into many seasons to come.
