Meryl Streep Just Bought This Mid-Century Home in Pasadena

Meryl is on the move. The 20-time Academy Award nominee (and three-time winner) just dropped $3.6 million on a mid-century pad in Pasadena, California.

Streep and her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, are the first people to buy the home in nearly fifty years, according to the exclusive on Variety. Built in 1959, the 3,087 square foot property sits on nearly two acres in the hills of Pasadena and has panoramic views of the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains and the Colorado Street Bridge.

Designed by architects Whitney Smith and Wayne Williams, the low-profile home has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and many a mid-century detail. The foyer features a skylight and a unique pebble-like terrazzo (which is so hot right now). The walls are mainly exposed cinder block, which contrast nicely with the wood slatted ceilings.

The kitchen and bathrooms still have vintage fixtures (from what we can see through doorways in the listing photos), and we assume they’re heading for an update. Also on the property are a detached studio or office and a kidney-shaped “lagoon-style” pool with “mature shade trees.”

Meryl and Don also have an expansive estate near Salisbury, Connecticut and a 6,100 square foot penthouse in Tribeca, according to Variety. Earlier this year, their former West Village townhouse was put on the market for a cool $28.5 million, and has since had a $4 million price cut, but is still available (they sold the place in 2005).
