I didn’t have a trip to Europe on my bingo card for this year, but when I got the opportunity to fly to Berlin for work (hello, IFA 2026!) I jumped at the chance. I decided to extend the trip by a few days to get some sightseeing in before coming home, turning what would have been a six-day trip into a 10-day stay — which is kind of a huge difference if you’re a carry-on-only traveler, like I am. Long story short: I packed everything I needed without checking my luggage and was able to cram in a few souvenirs on my flight home. And I don’t think it would’ve been possible without Quince’s Expandable Carry-On Suitcase.

Take it from someone who has tested their way through most of Quince’s affordable luxury catalog: the Expandable Carry-On Suitcase is absolutely worth it. Its storage capacity and hardside exterior made it the MVP of my trip. And the Venetian Red colorway I tested had me traveling in style.

What Is the Quince Expandable Carry-On Suitcase?

This Quince suitcase is a 48-liter carry-on that expands to deliver an extra inch of packing space, taking its internal capacity to 57 liters when expanded (which is enough for 6 to 10 outfits). An internal compression panel squishes down items tightly on one side to maximize packing space, while the opposite side is contained behind a full zip-up compartment to keep items from getting shuffled in transit. There are also three internal pockets to help keep smaller items organized, too.

Ample packing space aside, the suitcase still fits perfectly in the overhead compartment of most airlines. Its polycarbonate shell is lightweight, yet durable enough to withstand getting tossed around on planes, trains, and automobiles. It also features a smooth-gliding telescopic trolley handle, along with top and side handles that make it easy to grab from TSA bins and car trunks. Factor in the 360-degree spinner wheels, and you’ve got a carry-on you can glide through the airport with ease. The Quince Expandable Carry-On Suitcase is available in 10 colors, including three limited-edition hues — like the Venetian Red color I tested. Quince also just released a new shade, Cocoa, that looks like a chocolaty fall treat.

Why Quince’s Expandable Carry-On Suitcase Was the MVP of My Europe Trip

Whether I’m traveling for business or pleasure, packing enough outfits (and options, it’s important to have options!) is always a challenge for me. But it was even harder this time because this trip was both. I needed professional day-and-night outfits for my working days, and then more casual outfits for the days I’d be exploring on my own. That’s where the Quince Expandable Carry-On really impressed me. Its spacious interior accommodated all of my trip’s wardrobe needs: I packed button-downs, dresses, multiple pairs of jeans and trousers, along with a couple of knit sweaters, tees, a pair of ballet flats, and a purse. I actually didn’t need to expand it until my return flight home (I might’ve done a little shopping during the sightseeing portion of my trip), which is really saying something — and it still fit in the overhead bin, BTW.

Plus, the Quince Expandable Carry-On Suitcase looks even better than my pricier luggage. The new, limited-edition color options add a little extra style to an airport look. I fell in love with the matte, tomato-red finish on the Venetian Red color (even the wheel caps are red), which looks just as punchy in person. And I’m pleased to report that it cleans up beautifully (I just wiped it down with a Clorox wipe when I got home!). Thankfully, I didn’t have to check it this time around, but if I ever do, I relish the fact that I’ll always have an easy time spotting it on the baggage carousel.
