Wildflower season is upon us. If you’ll be forgoing road trips to wildflower fields this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, don’t fret; we’ve got blooming news. You can create your own little makeshift wildflower field at home this season by getting regional wildflower mixes delivered to your front door. Texas-based Wildseed Farms, the largest working wildflower farm in the U.S., has a collection of wildflower mixes available to shop online.

With starting prices from $16.50 (cost varies by the pound), Wildseed Farms has a vast collection of mixes that include a Western Wildflower Mix (California poppies, baby blue eyes, shasta daisies, and more); Butterfly/Hummingbird Mix (Indian blankets, yellow cosmos, purple coneflowers, and more); and Northeastern Wildflower Mix (perennial lupines, baby’s breaths, gold yarrows, and more). ¼ pound orders ($16.40) cover 500 square feet of soil for most mixes, while one pound orders ($42.50) cover 2,000 square feet. (Square footage will vary by mixes!)

The mixes are formulated according to diverse variations of rainfall, temperature, elevation, and soil types from region to region, according to Wildseed Farms. A balance of annual and perennial varieties are represented in each mix to provide a broad, eclectic mix of vibrant colors and lengthy display.

Other mixes include the Cut Flower Mix (teddy bear sunflowers, bishop’s flowers, catchfly flowers, and more) and Firecracker Mix (sweet alyssums, African daisies, cosmos, and more). Browse the full collection of regional wildfire mixes on the Wildseed Farms site. Who says you can’t bring the wildflower fields to your home this season?
