I can never have too many blankets — even though I live in a tiny studio apartment. I own more than I probably should, given that I live in a small space, but I can’t bear to part with any of them. For one, I layer multiple on my bed for extra warmth, and I need another option for my couch. Secondly, I like to have different materials for each season. My breezy knit blanket is my go-to when I want some coziness in the summer, while I can rely on my faux fur one to block out the winter chill.

However, despite my array of options, I’d been having trouble finding a bed blanket that I didn’t end up kicking off in the middle of the night. (Even though my apartment can get drafty, I’ll still overheat on occasion under my quilt, comforter, and blanket.) I started looking for a type of blanket that I hadn’t tried yet, which is how I stumbled across The Company Store’s Sweatshirt Blanket, which really does feel exactly like my most-worn sweats. Thanks to its versatile weight, it’s the cold-weather staple that my bed was missing.

What Is the Company Cotton Sweatshirt Blanket?

The Company Store — which has been producing expertly made linens since 1911 — is behind some of our team’s favorite bedding (myself included). I’ve owned its jersey sheets for over a year now and still swear by them, and its wool mattress pad upped my bed’s fluffiness by a mile. Now I’ve found yet another favorite Company Store item in the form of the Sweatshirt Blanket, which has a knit texture on top and is lined with plush fleece underneath.

It’s self-binded on every side for a clean finish and comes in twin, full/queen, and king sizes — as well as a cheaper throw version if you’d rather keep it on your sofa or armchair. You can also choose a color that best matches your decor: gray, navy, or taupe. Like a true sweatshirt, taking care of it is easy; it’s machine-washable and dryer-safe.

Why I Love the Company Cotton Sweatshirt Blanket

I’ve seen (and tested) a lot of bedding over the years, but a sweatshirt-style blanket is a new one for me; and now that I’ve tried it, it’s surpassed my usual favorite material (faux fur). Covering my bed entirely, this blanket gives my setup a polished yet relaxed look. The former comes from its tight-knit texture, and the latter from its subtly heathered coloring. I went with the taupe shade to match my apartment’s lighter color scheme, although it comes across as more gray and muted than it does in the photos. Still, it’s neutral enough that I don’t mind, and the cozy feel more than makes up for it.

This blanket seriously makes me never want to get out of bed. It’s created a cozy cocoon that doesn’t feel too suffocating when it’s layered with my comforter and quilt. I also wrap up in it when I’m not under the covers; it’s my blanket of choice when I watch TV from my bed. It truly does feel like I’ve just put on my favorite sweatshirt when I pull this blanket around my shoulders, and thanks to its large size I can cover my whole body easily.

I’ve been relying on the Sweatshirt Blanket through some of the coldest weather I’ve ever experienced in New York City, and it’s such a versatile weight that I plan on using it well into spring and possibly even on its own in the summer. Trust me — this unique blanket is definitely worth a try if you love bundling up in your sweats after a long day like I do.
