A modern, stylish and bright living room

As someone with a fairly small New York City living room, I know the struggle of trying to squeeze all the essential pieces into a tight space. Between a sofa, TV stand, coffee table, etc., I’ve had to be strategic about the proportions and placement of everything in the room. That even goes for the tiny touches, too, like decor and lighting. But I just discovered a double-duty Urban Outfitters find that (stylishly!) maximizes floor space and should be on every small-space dweller’s radar.

As the name implies, the Sanna side table floor lamp is — you guessed it — a light and end table, all in one. Designed with a modern silhouette, the piece includes a pleated lamp shade and curved light wood arm, attached to a matching round tripod table. The lamp extends from the very back of the table, so you have plenty of surface area (it’s 19.1 inches wide) for books, coasters, candles, or a small houseplant.

Not only does this combine two living room staples into one, but it takes advantage of vertical space so that you can conveniently add more lighting and an extra tabletop without dominating precious square footage. It’s perfect for styling next to an accent chair (especially in a cozy book nook), or even with a set of two flanking your sofa for a uniform look. And this piece isn’t just limited to the living room — consider converting it into a bedside combo, too. That way, you wouldn’t need to buy a nightstand and table lamp separately.

Two-in-one, small-space-friendly pieces like this are nothing new, but Urban Outfitters’ iteration has to be one of the most stylish I’ve seen, hands down. The lamp portion resembles the popular Caprani floor lamp (that’s currently a hot vintage commodity on Etsy and Chairish), while the overall light-toned finish and neutral shade keep things simple and versatile enough to complement any room. The pleated shade adds a fresh textural component, too.

The Sanna side table floor lamp is admittedly a little bit pricey at $399, but keep in mind that you’re getting both a piece of furniture and lighting — and it honestly looks way more expensive than it actually is. Bring a cool, vintage-inspired touch to your living room or bedroom with this functional find, which also doubles as book or magazine storage (you can even use the space between the legs to stack even more!).
