This Amazon Kitchen Island Does the Job of Four Pieces of Furniture in a Tiny Kitchen

You know how when someone raves about something, you tend to believe them? Well, Sophie Simmons, a content creator and, IMHO, a small-space expert, is adamant that people who live in compact homes should purchase this kitchen island from Amazon. 

“It’s convenient,” Sophie said of the island at the time of the House Tour. “It’s just a convertible piece of furniture that’s super flexible. If you live in a tiny space, I would definitely recommend getting one of these. They’re fabulous.” 

When Sophie moved into the space, she didn’t really know what to do with the kitchen. At the time of the House Tour, she admitted that she had the “least vision” for the room, but after filling it with items that not only look good but are functional, it’s become her favorite room in the house.

Sophie lived in the apartment alone first, but after meeting and marrying her now-husband, he moved in, too. Together, the couple only had around 331 square feet of space to share. So, every item needed to hold its own. The kitchen island definitely did.

“This island was the best decision we made. It’s functional; we can move the barstools out, eat here, it’s the perfect size,” Sophie said at the time of the House Tour. “That’s one thing we have to focus on, the exact dimensions of every furniture piece in here. Everything has to have a place; everything has to be well thought out.”

There are several adjustments you can make to the Amazon kitchen island before purchasing. For example, you can choose between having three drawers and two cabinets or two drawers and four doors. You can even choose the smallest option (one drawer and one cabinet) if that’s better for your home. 

One of Sophie’s favorite memories in the home is when she hosted a Christmas dinner. She moved the table so it was in direct view of the Christmas tree (in the back of the shotgun apartment), and hosted multiple people comfortably. “It was so magical and so adorable,” Sophie reminisced.
