When I moved into my first small apartment, I quickly became frustrated with it. It took a long period of trial and error to make all of my belongings fit without looking cluttered. I had to get creative by swapping my old furniture out for pieces that had built-in storage, finding items that utilized vertical space, and more. Honestly, even though I’ve lived in tiny apartments for years at this point, I still view it as an ongoing process — I’m always on the lookout for furniture and home essentials that’ll do an even better job of maximizing my space.

Still, even if a clever upgrade is necessary, it can get pricey. That’s where Walmart comes in — I’ve found 10 markdowns that are specially suited to small spaces. Editor-approved shelf risers, stylish storage bins, a lift-top coffee table, and more are on sale, so you can start the year off on the right foot by saving money and making your home more efficient.
