There’s no denying that houseplants bring life into homes and interior spaces. Bright green leaves are the perfect addition to just about any room’s design. Live plants can be fun to take care of, but not all windows are created equally, and not everyone’s schedule allows for ample plant care time. There’s no shame in dipping into the faux plant arena for any of your plant needs! Need proof? There were several fake plants sprinkled around Apartment Therapy’s Small/Cool NYC event that look so good, I bet you can’t tell just by looking at them! And the best part, these fake-but-real-looking plants can be purchased online, so you can snag a few for your own home!

In multi-faceted designer Julieta Alvarez’s Pastoral Charm room, weathered finishes, natural textures, and subtle old-world details blend to create an incredibly cozy space that is as elegant as it is comfortable. It’s a space that proves how peaceful and calming a room can be, even if there are a lot of rich details to explore. And bolstering that peaceful ambiance is a gorgeous large olive tree in a big bold planter. The olive tree from Hayneedle is a fake… but it’s so good you’d never know! The exact version Julieta used in the Small/Cool room is so popular it’s currently sold out, but there are a lot of other olive trees (as well as trees and plants of all kinds) still available from Hayneedle; they just might be the element your own old world-inspired home needs.

Designer Alvin Wayne is no stranger to incorporating organic materials in his designs; his own Queens apartment has plenty of rich green plant life throughout. But when it came to outfitting his Small/Cool room with a Take It Outside theme, would you believe that many of the plants contained within are artificial?! It doesn’t matter whether you have a giant yard, a teeny balcony, a bright outdoor space, or a space that gets zero direct sun, if you have ANY outdoor area at all… take the extra time to outfit it into a personal getaway that you can enjoy. Even if you have a black thumb, let Alvin’s stylish space motivate you to add fun faux green plants to whatever outdoor space you do have!

Could you spot the faux plants in Alvin’s Small/Cool room? I bet you couldn’t! Two snake plants in the corner are Ashley’s artificial 4′ Snake Grass Plant, and that gorgeous large five-foot Bird of Paradise plant is totally faux, also from Ashley. Yes, even that visually striking array of ferns that’s hanging in front of the wood slat statement wall is made of faux Ashley plants! Proof you don’t have to have all “real” plants to create your dream home jungle.
