When it comes to spooky season, who else to turn to than Spirit Halloween for costume advice? The retailers certainly know a thing or two about all things scary, and when locations pop up across the U.S., it’s a telltale sign that All Hallows’ Eve is on its way.

Now, after hours of gazing into a crystal ball and consulting with otherworldly forces, Spirit Halloween has revealed 2021’s hottest Halloween costume trends. This year’s top trends feature an eclectic array of categories, so Halloween enthusiasts planning more than one killer look can mix it up while staying on-trend, and families can be sure their kids look ready to scare up some fun—and, of course, candy.

One of the Halloween trends set to take 2021 by storm is ’90s nostalgia. The decade is already taking the fashion—and interior—world by storm, so it’s no surprise that the ’90s are creeping onto the Halloween costume scene. Embrace the decade of frosted tips and scrunchies with reminiscent looks such as Bratz, Spam Jam, and Cher Horowitz from “Clueless“.

Disney Villains are also a popular pick this year, no doubt with the recent release of villain-centric films such as Emma Stone’s “Cruella”. Spirit Halloween is stocking plenty of evil costumes this year, such as Ursula, Cruella, and Maleficent.

Foodie costumes will also be hot this year, according to the retailer. Trick or cheese Cheetos fans can bring the heat this year with Spirit Halloween’s brand-new Flamin’ Hot Cheetos costume, while guacamole lovers can enjoy a range of avocado-themed delights.

Finally, a classic that you’ll be seeing a lot this year is creepy family costumes. These get-ups are nothing new, but they’re as popular as ever. From Beetlejuice to the Flintstones, families can enjoy plenty of spooktacular Halloween costumes from fan-favorite franchises.

Happy Halloween!
