Trend forecasting is always hit or miss, especially with new styles constantly popping up. But there’s one platform that’s consistently spot on: Etsy. The company’s 2024 report from the end of last year used global marketplace insights to predict some of the most sought-after trends, including denim decor (a nod to the current western-inspired movement) and all-berry-hued-everything

Now, almost halfway through 2024, Etsy just released its first ever Spring/Summer Trend Guide, curated by in-house trend expert Dayna Isom Johnson. These shopping data-backed insights highlight some of the top themes you can expect to see throughout the upcoming seasons while also spotlighting noteworthy Etsy sellers’ corresponding products.

You can read the full report on Etsy’s site, but I’m breaking down five exciting interior design trends the company is standing behind for spring and summer — plus, how to shop these looks.

Romcom Interiors

Ever felt inspired to take decorating cues from your favorite nostalgic movie or TV show? Etsy coined a term for that: Romcom Interiors. According to the guide, this trend is all about channeling ‘90s and early 2000s fictional sets, “leaning into a cozy, approachable, and timeless decor style reminiscent of classic romcoms.” Think: comfy linen couch coverscolorful rugsmaximalist bookshelves, pattern play, and lived-in-looking spaces overall.

Sports-Core

If you thought your tennis or pickleball hobbies couldn’t translate to home decor, think again. Etsy’s Sports-Core trend pays homage to popular outdoor activities, as seen with modern cornhole boards that actually look good on your lawn or pretty sports-inspired art prints you can admire year-round.

Garden Girl

First came tomato girl summer, then coastal cowgirl, and now there’s “Garden Girl.” For a fresh take on spring florals, this trend centers around bringing nature inside in subtle ways, like ruffled bedding (a growing search term on the site) that mimics the folds of flower petals. According to Etsy shopping patterns, cute gardening accessories will also be on the rise.

Chef’s Kiss

Etsy’s Chef’s Kiss trend category confirms that food- and restaurant-inspired accents will continue to stay top of mind — largely thanks to the popularity of recent TV shows like The Bear. In terms of home decor, the report states searches for “pasta prints” on Etsy increased by 39%, while “espresso martini candles” spiked up to 1,454%. If you’re ready to say “yes, chef” to this look, level up small staples like your napkins or oven mitts

Time-Honored Textiles

Grandmillennial-inspired style is sticking around for spring and summer: Etsy notes increasing interest in crocheted, quilted, and embroidered textiles. You may already be noticing this on the fashion side of things, like vintage-inspired patchwork jackets, but it’s especially relevant across handmade blankets, throw pillows, table linens, and even potholders. Not only do these add a more personalized, tactile touch to your space, but they feel timeless enough to keep for the long haul — and yes, you can even DIY your own!
