As much as we all wish we lived in the mirage of curating a space to our exact specifications, most of our budgets and surroundings could never quite satisfy those wishes in the real world. (I personally would like a separate library, office, and guest house, and I blame Polly Pocket and Nancy Meyers equally.)

Quick Overview

What’s So Great About Allform Furniture?

Allform’s direct-to-consumer furniture is customizable, comfortable, and durable.

But Allform, a furniture company best known for its modular sofas, aims to solve that exact problem. How, exactly? Each of their sofas is made-to-order, as you decide the nitty-gritty details like how many seats it has and which color it’ll turn out to be. And if anything changes, like if you need a wider configuration one day, then Allform has that covered, too. With Allform, that dream of a fully customized space specifically curated to your every design whim gets a bit more realistic each day.

What Is Allform?

First, a bit of background: Allform is a direct-to-consumer company owned by Helix Mattress, an award-winning, bed-in-a-box brand that’s been around since 2015. To sum up all the hyphens, Allform was created by a team that not only understands the DTC mattress business, but also wanted to streamline comfort in customers’ waking hours too.

Allform launched in the spring of 2020 at the height of stay-at-home orders (sorry, more hyphens!), and billed itself as a brand of sustainable, flexible products. Its collection includes sofas, sectionals, armchairs, loveseats, and ottomans in seven fabrics and two types of leather, and there are also a handful of accessories like pillows and a weighted blanket (courtesy of Helix, of course).

The sofas are manufactured in North Carolina and made with recyclable materials — from the kiln-dried and laminated wood to the performance cushions. Furthermore, the modular build can be adjusted over time, and the seat materials are constructed for durability against everyday worries like pet claws and dinner stains. Given these agreeable fine-print details, and the ability to call the shots on looks, it’s no wonder that Allform emerged as one of the most popular DTC furniture brands just in the last few years.

Is Allform Furniture Easy to Assemble?

Putting one of Allforms’ couches together doesn’t require tools. All of the sofa parts come in separate boxes, making it easier to transport pieces one at a time, and then they screw together with your own two hands (you are free to share this fact with your older relatives around the holidays). All of the furniture boxes weigh less than 60 pounds, with the chaise container hitting that number.

The company says that the sofas can be built in no time — like, under an hour! — but it’s a good idea to lay out all the parts and form a small assembly line in your space, just to be sure that it’s quick.

Does Allform Deliver?

Allform started as an online-only entity, so it has delivery built into its business model. Orders are shipped for free from its manufacturing facility in North Carolina, and the company uses Ground FedEx to get boxes to your door. Currently, you can’t expedite your sofa in a pinch, even if you’re willing to shell out for it.

And one last thing to note: Sofas come in separate boxes, but they’re all shipped together so expect delivery on the same day. Pillows and other accessories, though, will show up separately.

Does Allform Furniture Have Stores?

For those in the New York City area, it is possible to sit on Allform furniture inside the Helix Showroom in Gramercy Park. But if you’re not in the area, never fear. All sofas come with a 100-day trial period starting the day your sofa arrives, so that you have time to decide whether or not it’s sticking around. And if it’s not, returns are free.

Are There Any Allform Sales During Cyber Monday?

Patience can be a virtue for shoppers who are willing to time their customizations just right, because Allform has sales that correspond with major holidays. Currently, Allform is running a Cyber Monday sale with 25% off sitewide — just use the code CYBER25.

Is Allform Furniture Worth it?

Back when Allform was coming up on its first anniversary, Sholeen Damarwala wrote a review in Apartment Therapy for the five-seat corner sectional she purchased. Damarwala was looking for a sectional that could fit in her small living area and could be used for occasional naps, and she felt as though Allform hit those marks wonderfully. It even became a comfortable place for her brother to sleep unexpectedly!

“I have had my sleek and stylish Allform sofa for over two months now, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that my husband and I practically live on it,” she says. “We are natural couch potatoes, and these past few months have only heightened our inherent instincts. We use the sofa as our office from 9-6 p.m., and once the laptops shut down, the couch transforms into a chill zone where lounging is 100 percent encouraged.”

It’s never easy to say if a sofa is worth it generally because furniture is so personal, but given Damarwala’s experience, Allform is worth a shot.
