Material’s Anniversary Sale Includes the Cutting Boards Our Editors Love
When our friends at The Kitchn debuted the 2022 edition of Kitchn Essentials earlier this year, it featured several repeat favorites that many of their editors use daily. For instance, there’s Great Jones’s Holy Sheet, the top sheet pan that so many Kitchn staffers have and swear by. And of course, the editor-favorite plastic cutting board, Material’s reBoard. It’s so beloved that some editors (myself included!) even have multiples that we use all.the.time.
If the rave reviews aren’t enough to get you to click “add to cart,” how’s this for incentive? This must-have tool happens to be discounted right now as part of a sitewide Material sale. Starting today (Mar. 22) until Mar. 24, you can celebrate the brand’s fourth birthday with 20 percent off everything on the site when you use the code HERESTOYOU at checkout. Translation: You can get both the bestselling Material reBoard and the smaller version, the Mini reBoard, for a steal. Trust me, you’ll thank us next time you’re happily chopping, slicing, and mincing.
If you haven’t heard of the reBoard yet, you might be wondering what makes it so special. One of the most obvious perks of this BPA-free plastic cutting board is that it’s made entirely of recycled kitchen plastic and renewable sugarcane (cool, right?). On top of that, Material has fashioned an absolutely gorgeous piece in five attractive colors that will actually make you excited to prep ingredients.
When Kitchn editors first tested the board, they were drawn to the textured surface that, unlike most plastic cutting boards, resists scratches. Despite the absence of a juice well, the liquid didn’t pour off when they put a juicy roast on the board. Instead, it remained pooled on the board, perfect for reserving and keeping food moist.
I’ve been using the reBoard for a few months now and can confidently say it’s one of my favorite kitchen tools. It’s very sturdy and doesn’t budge when I’m using it, making knife tasks easy whether I’m mincing garlic or cutting a spaghetti squash in half. I also love the large size (it comes in at 14.75″ x 10.75″) that is big enough for all of my meal prep.
Perhaps my favorite part, though, is that nothing I’m cutting seeps into the surface. I’ve had plenty of plastic cutting boards in the past that seem to absorb juicy tomatoes or soft avocados and become permanently stained. The reBoard is such a great alternative to traditional plastic boards. It’s extremely easy to clean with soap and water — or just pop it in the dishwasher. And the beautiful Coral color I have doesn’t hurt, either!
I also love the Mini reBoard when I’m just working with one ingredient or making a quick meal. It’s the perfect size for small tasks like cutting a lemon or slicing an apple for a snack, and I find myself using it multiple times a day.
While the Material reBoard is such a great reliable everyday cutting board, we also love that it simply sparks joy in kitchens. If you want to grab one at this great price, make sure you act before the limited-time sale ends! And while you’re at it, check out the rest of the Material sale — some of our other favorites include the silicone spatula we love and the copper core nonstick pan that absolutely nothing sticks to!
Buy: The reBoard, $28 (normally $35); The (mini) re Board, $20 (normally $25)
