She Put a Dollar Tree Kitchen Utensil Organizer in Her Bathroom, So I Had to Copy Her

I’m a big fan of finding alternate purposes for household items in my small apartment, like using a butter dish in the living room as a remote control holder or putting picture frames in a drawer for DIY spice storage.  

I recently discovered the smartest storage hack that uses a kitchen utensil organizer in the bathroom, and I knew I needed to try it ASAP. The best part? It uses something you already own or can buy cheaply at a Dollar Tree.

In a video from creator Marlo (@openmind.777), she shows how to use a $1.50 kitchen utensil organizer from Dollar Tree to organize bathroom essentials, like toothbrushes for each of her kids. The six divided spaces include one extra-long narrow section, four smaller narrow sections, and a square-shaped compartment. These make for more compact storage in the bathroom, where items can stay in their designated homes. 

Since the Dollar Tree utensil organizer — or any other on the market — already has dividers built into it, there’s no need to buy individual trays and baskets to keep toiletries and various vanity items separated. It fits nicely into a vanity, bathroom cabinet, can sit on extra counterspace, or you can tuck it underneath the sink itself.

Inspired by the idea, I snagged this silverware organizer made with durable materials for everyday use, and put the trick to the test. Instead of storing the cutlery tray inside my bathroom drawer, I decided to keep it tucked underneath my sink. I left essential items that I don’t use every day that needed a storage spot for the occasional times I do use them. A lot of these items originally floated around in a drawer, like face masks and lip balms, and now, I have more room in my drawers for the items I use routinely, while storing away others just underneath. It’s great for storing long bottles, hair ties, perfumes, jewelry, and so much more. 

Outside of the kitchen and bathroom, this trick could be useful to help store snacks in the pantry or to even stick in a craft drawer to organize pens, office supplies, craft supplies, and more. I never thought a utensil organizer could have so many uses outside of the kitchen, but I can’t wait to try it to cut the clutter all over my home.
