This 70s-Inspired Sunken Tub Is the New Conversation Pit
Blogger Sam Ushiro shared a video of her sunken tub on TikTok, and it’s currently at over two million views. This tub — along with her entire home — clearly belongs on everyone’s Pinterest board for its vibrant, retro style.
As the video starts, the eye-catching tiles are almost immediately forgotten about after viewing the incredible sunken tub (reminiscent of the popular ’70s home feature, the conversation pit, which has seen a resurgence) and its surrounding tiles. It’s impossible to ignore the cute decorations surrounding Ushiro’s tub, like the wavy-shaped candles and ribbed vases.
On her Instagram account, Ushiro shared the jaw-dropping transformation photos of the bathroom before and after its renovation. In her caption, she noted that the sunken tub immediately caught her eye and knew it needed a groovy makeover. “I spent a long time sourcing vintage for this space to mix with modern elements (who knew a toilet paper holder could be so cool? lol), and I’m so happy with how everything came together,” she wrote on Instagram.
In each shot of the bathroom, the golden yellow is a standout shade among the rest of the bathroom’s white and pink accents. While glancing through the bathroom’s before photos, it is nearly unrecognizable due to the amount of decor and color added.
The rest of Ushiro’s home is just as groovy as her bathroom, especially the vintage pieces that she’s styled throughout her home. In one of her recent TikTok videos, she showed off the item that’s bound to be on your vintage wishlist — the Drexel Plus One Butterfly Table. After manifesting the item, Ushiro was directed to a Craigslist ad in New Jersey and scored the rare piece. Maybe I should ask her how to manifest my dream furniture?
Ushiro’s entire home is clearly inspiring Pinterest boards everywhere, especially those looking for a little flower power in their space.
