This $10 Decor Staple Is the One Thing I Never Thought to Buy From Ikea

Although I tend to associate IKEA with bigger-ticket buys (and the genius DIY hacks that can come along with them), some of my all-time favorite decor pieces actually come from Sweden’s stylish-meets-affordable home hotspot. I’ve lucked out with pretty mirrors , bud vases, and even decorative drinking glasses. There’s one small-scale IKEA category I didn’t know my blue shopping bag had been missing though: candles.

Now, as a home editor, I’d like to think I’m fairly in-the-know about what’s currently on the market, especially anything that bridges the gap between high design and low budget. When content creator Mallory Fletchall of Reserve Home, one of my favorite home Instagram accounts, recently shared that she buys her go-to pillar candles from IKEA though, I was floored — even more so when I discovered that you can get five for less than $10 total. Yep, IKEA’s FENOMEN set features five white unscented candles in an assortment of heights for just $9.99. That’s less than $2 a candle, people. Not to mention, they’re a top IKEA seller. Basically, where have I been this entire time?

I’ve seen (and saved) this IKEA candle set many times from Fletchall’s page, where she’s styled them downright beautifully by pairing them with decorative cloches at the base of her vintage pier mirror. The setup, shown in the image above, honestly looks so luxe that I always assumed the candles themselves had price tags to match. Luckily, that’s not the case, and I love that such a simple, cost-effective staple can have such an elegant decorating impact, as evidenced by Fletchall’s cozy-calm living room.

You can easily replicate the look for your own own home, too. Whether inside cloches, lanterns, or standing on their own, these five little accents pack plenty of versatility, meaning you can zhush up any spot from an entryway table to a bathroom shelf to a fireplace mantel. With a price this nice, there’s no harm in stocking up on multiple sets, especially if you plan to burn them regularly. Play with different size pairings across multiple rooms, or just reserve the candles for special occasions like dinner parties and holidays. Either way, they’re understated and classic enough to mingle alongside any design style.
