You’d be surprised what you can do with a few dollars and a little bit of imagination (or, at least the imagination of someone else on the internet). In 2024, shoppers online got extra creative, doing more with less, trying new tricks and hacks with budget items to make their homes work more efficiently. Their retailer of choice? Dollar Tree, of course!

From jewelry holders to DIY produce stands, it seems you can make anything out of unassuming Dollar Tree finds. But the most popular hack of the year had to be this simple cabinet door organizer trick. For less than $3, you can instantly make your own storage out of thin air — here’s how.

All you need is this $1.25 three-pack of long rectangular slotted baskets and a set of $1.25 mini adhesive hooks (which you can pick up in-store or online). Simply take the edges of two hooks, poke them through the slots on the long side of the basket about equidistant from the center, peel the backing off of the hooks, and adhere the bin to the cabinet door. If you want to use the whole three-pack, you can place them spaced out evenly vertically to create storage out of otherwise wasted space.

Just like that, you’ve got your very own cabinet door organizers in seconds! You can do this in your bathroom, kitchen, living room, or anywhere else you’ve got a cabinet door (or door of any kind, really) and an empty nook behind it. The best part of this easy Dollar Tree hack is that it’s totally customizable to your storage needs — you can choose the bins, the placement, and the colors all depending on what you’re storing.

For a more secure connection between the baskets and the cabinet door, you might screw it in or use a glue that’s safe for wood and plastic. On the other hand, the hack above is perfect as-is for renters, as you can remove the hooks without any damage to the cabinet doors (which also means you can move them around if you don’t love the original placement). Keeping them removable also makes them easier to clean, which is a plus if you’re using them to store items like toothpaste or sponges that tend to get messy.
