The Best Way to Work From Home, According to Your Zodiac
The way we work is changing. Working from home has been something many of us have had to adapt to as part of the new normal that came with 2020. Now, as businesses start to look at the future of the “typical” working day, more companies are opting to offer the option of long-term remote working.
Working from the comfort of your home has been a blessing in terms of saying goodbye to the long commutes and, more importantly, staying safe throughout the pandemic. However, WFH life also has its downsides — you may be feeling unmotivated by your makeshift couch-slash-office, or all too tempted to take a quick afternoon nap during that Tuesday afternoon Zoom meeting.
There’s no right or wrong way to work from home, but if you’re ready for a routine revamp, the career coaching team at FlexJobs has shared their top tips on how to create the best work from home routine. And, best of all, the tips are completely tailored to your own Zodiac sign, taking into account each sign’s unique temperament, wants, and needs.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
Aries personalities are full of energy and love to take action. To burn off that Aries energy, schedule a daily sweat-inducing workout while working from home. At the least, get up once an hour and move around.
Bonus tip: Switch to a standing desk to help keep the blood flowing and your spirits up!
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
Sensitive to their surroundings, a Taurus prefers comfort and surrounding themselves with visually appealing objects. They also tend to prefer routines, which help keep them on track when working from home.
To help keep productivity up, Tauruses can surround themselves with the things that are beautiful and make them comfortable. Add some plants and sunlight to brighten up a space, or try some scented candles and new art pieces. Invest in an ergonomically-friendly chair, too, to keep physically comfortable during the workday.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
With a reputation of being “easily bored,” Geminis thrive on the new and novel, and adapt well to change. To be successful while working at home, make an effort to connect with coworkers. Communicate frequently to chat about the professional or the personal. Try setting up a regular coffee chat or lunch break via video or even IM to help satisfy the need to stay connected, which can help with staying focused and productive.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
Cancers are ruled by home life, making them almost perfect for work-from-home arrangements! A challenge that Cancers can face, though, is that working from home may, at times, go against their natural urge to care for others and spend time with them. However, doing the best job they can and performing at peak form is a great way to demonstrate how much they care for their family.
They can keep productivity up by putting their mind into work mode. Get dressed every morning to signal that it’s time to work. Keep workspaces separate from the rest of the home. Set up a home office at the dining room table, in a closet, or in the garage to help set and keep those boundaries intact.
Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)
Leos are natural leaders who thrive on taking the reins, but they also desire recognition of their contributions to the team. To satisfy your leadership needs, Leos can communicate frequently with their superiors. Try sending a periodic email round-up of everything accomplished and summarize progress on tasks. Frequent communication is an essential aspect of working from home. Include the boss and coworkers on progress updates, which can help decrease the possibility of miscommunication.
Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)
Virgos are hard workers who love to-do and task lists. They’re also very adaptable and see change as a challenge to overcome, not a setback. Because Virgos love to work (and work and work), sometimes their focus may be a little too intense, and they might forget to take a break.
Breaks are essential to maintaining productivity, so make sure to look away from the screen and take a walk outside, meditate, or call a friend for a quick chat to return to work refreshed and more productive than before.
Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)
Balanced but social might be the best way to describe a Libra. Working from home can be tough, though, because they need to hang out with and talk to coworkers. For Libras, connecting with colleagues is an important part of the job.
Plan a virtual lunch or happy hour for the whole team or even the entire office to help everyone stay connected. Or, try scheduling coffee chats with a few coworkers throughout the day. Libras also need to connect beyond the normal day-to-day of work. They can schedule additional social activities for themselves with (or without) their coworkers.
Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)
Masters of self-discipline and control, Scorpios make excellent remote workers. They have the self-motivation and organizational skills it takes to be successful when working at home and thrive on the familiar––and working from home is the ultimate familiar.
They tend to be intense, and though some may be intimidated by it, their intensity is an asset. Harness that intensity and work when you feel most productive and focused.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)
Sagittarius signs are natural optimists and leaders. They love being their own boss, and when they can’t, they take on the biggest, boldest project possible. They’re also spontaneous and crave variety.
To stay engaged in tasks, a Sagittarius can try mixing things up by working from different settings. Even if they’re limited to the couch, closet, or dining room table, different is what matters most! It’s possible they’ll also get so engrossed in tasks, they’ll forget to stop, and suddenly have worked 12 straight hours! Take frequent breaks to rest and recharge.
Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)
Capricorns love to work, work, work! They love achieving a goal and moving on to the next one. They’re also usually the first one in the office (or logged on) and the last one to finish at night.
Capricorns can easily slip into the “just a few more minutes” trap and find themselves working all the time. Whether it’s closing the door to a home office, shutting down the laptop, or even enjoying a favorite beverage at the end of the day, when a Capricorn has clocked out, stay clocked out.
Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)
Social is probably the best way to describe those with the Aquarius sign. They enjoy group activities, like working on a team, and networking.
They thrive on connecting with anyone and everyone around them. They’re also forward-thinkers, often solving problems with “out of the box” ideas. Work on collaborative projects that offer the chance to contribute to a group goal.
Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)
Pisces are generally known for their daydreaming, but that’s not a bad thing. They often find creative solutions to business problems that others may not see and are empathetic and good at reading other people. This can help them see things from the other side, resulting in a solution everyone can agree on.
Schedule plenty of breaks with time for creative activities, like drawing, painting, journaling, or daydreaming. These creative breaks will help satisfy the “do your own thing,” while keeping a Pisces productive and on track.
