After a long week of work, errands, and overall living, one of my favorite activities is lounging around. My home is full of what I would consider top-tier cozy essentials, including plush socks, wearable blankets, luxe eye masks, and a ton of pillows. As you can imagine, I don’t do much on my days off if I can manage it. During my time at Apartment Therapy, I’ve had the benefit of trying out lots and lots of soft goods from sheets to comforters. I especially love when I get to check out brands that cross my path on social media because it means I can see if they’re truly worth it. One such brand is Buffy, which has quickly risen in the ranks of editor-favorite bedding and even earned the top spot on our Best List for comforters last year.

From duvet covers to linen sheets, Buffy is a top choice for cooling bedding, which is a huge plus for hot sleepers like me. They also have a small but mighty collection of pillows and blankets. I got the chance to try out the Instagram-famous Puffer Blanket, and let me say now that it did not disappoint.

What is the Puffer Blanket?

Inspired by the look of a stylish quilted jacket, Buffy’s Puffer Blanket is a lightweight and eco-friendly throw that’s just as cozy as it appears. Its shell is made with a blend of recycled polyester and cooling eucalyptus TENCEL lyocell, and the inside is filled with 100% BPA-free recycled PET fibers that give it an airy weight. Measuring 70 inches x 50 inches, the throw is not only large enough to bundle up in, but is also suitable for outdoor picnics and as an additional layer of bedding.

Considering its size, the blanket can roll tightly enough to take it on the go. Don’t worry too much about getting it dirty: The throw is durable, stain-resistant, and machine-washable. Best of all, it gets softer with every wash. The blanket, which is recommended for year-round use, is available in five earth tones from non-toxic, chemical-free dyes. Additionally, each Puffer Blanket recycles approximately 30 plastic bottles.

Why I Love the Puffer Blanket

I love the look of puffer coats, but it’s way too hot where I live to wear one. For me, Buffy’s Puffer Blanket is the next best thing. One of the reasons I love quilted throws like this one is because the fill stays in place wash after wash. I don’t have to worry about my blanket getting oddly lumpy and uncomfortable after taking a few trips in the washer’s spin cycle. I highly recommend washing the throw before using it to help it reach its full form. It has a really lightweight plushness that will never be bulky, but straight out of its packaging, it’s noticeably flatter than it will become. Washing it ahead of time just gives it a good head start.

This is by far one of my favorite blankets to use when I’m spending time outdoors. The silky eucalyptus material is easy to clean and the fabric stays cool and breathable, so I don’t have to be concerned with getting too hot or the blanket getting a little dirty. As a pet owner with two dogs, I also love that fur brushes right off of it. I have more than a few throw blankets that have lost that battle for good. All in all, the Puffer Blanket is a beautiful and comfy throw that doesn’t take up a lot of space when it’s folded. It also adds a nice pop of color wherever you place it. It typically retails for $99, so getting one for just under $60 is definitely a steal.
