You can never have too many books, right? If your shelves are overflowing, and your living room is running out of space for more shelves, try one of these clever ideas for squeezing a few more books into your space.
Above: If your staircase landing is big enough, it's a great place to add an extra bookshelf (or repurposed armoire, in this case).
Add wall mounted shelves in the space between your windows.
Stack books on your hearth (but only if you're not using your fireplace much).
Reclaim the space under a window with a long, low shelf, and stuff that thing with books.
Add shelves inside s decorative fireplace.
Stack books (or magazines) under a particularly deep desk...
or a console.
Anywhere you have clearance under other furniture is fair game for more books.
Or go one step further and make the books a part of the furniture itself.
Above a desk is a great place to squeeze in a few extra shelves.
Make a stack of books a focal point in a hallway.
Replace your nightstand with one of those vertical bookcases. You can co-opt a couple of shelves for your phone, a glass of water, and other sundries.
Alternatively, if your nightstand is always full of books, you could cut out the middleman and just make a nightstand out of books. (You might want to put the ones you reach for most towards the top of the stack.
Stack books under a bench at the foot of the bed.
Add wall-mounted bookshelves above your nightstand in the bedroom...
...or over the entire length of the bed.
Add a few extra shelves above the shitter.
