A highly utilitarian space, bathrooms don’t always receive the same level of decoration as the rest of the home. But I think that’s why the bathrooms in this list all stand out so much; these are functional rooms where you can get your business done, but they’re also stunning spaces where you can unwind, relax, and get away from it all. Let this list of our favorite bathrooms from house tours inspire you to create your own spa-like space at home.

News & Culture Editor Tara Bellucci loves the bathroom in Shauna Glenn’s “Jonathan Adler Meets Justina Blakeney” Style Fort Worth House

I have only lived in apartments with standard tub/shower combos that are definitely not deep or wide enough to have a proper relaxing bath. Shauna’s lovely soaking tub, set in a window nook, surrounded by fun wallpaper is a literal dream of mine.

Editor-in-Chief Laura Schocker loves the bathroom in Latisha Carlson’s Modern Albuquerque Home

A bathroom with enough natural light to support three thriving plants? It’s the dream. I love how this bathroom feels attainable (an Urban Outfitters shower curtain! an IKEA vanity!) and yet still aspirational. In my imagination, the morning routine would feel like less of a slog in this bathroom.

Lifestyle Editor Taryn Williford loves the bathroom in Kelly Moore Clark’s Eclectic Dream Barn House in the Louisiana Countryside

Any bathroom big enough for a red carpet-like runner is automatically elevated to “greatest of all time.” Seriously. Just imagine waltzing in here with your favorite book and your favorite wine to soak for a while. But it checks all the boxes for my dream bathroom: Clawfoot tub. Two vanities. Room for a real chair. Lots of windows (there are four, from what I can count, which is more windows than I have in my bedroom—which is zero). And because there are lots of windows, you’ll also find a jungle’s worth of plants. This. Is. Paradise.

Project Editor Dabney Frake loves the bathroom in this Mobile Plant Shop Owner’s “Muted Folky Boho” Home

This bathroom always makes me smile, and it’s all about the hand-painted boobs on the wall. I love how this renter took a basic (albeit lovely) space and made it special with one unexpected element.

Instagram Manager Austa Somvichian-Clausen loves the bathroom in this Rustic, Renovated MCM House in the Poconos

This entire home/animal sanctuary in the Poconos is gorgeous, but the bathroom looks especially serene—from the soaking tub to the Asian-inspired decor. Plus, imagine that view!

Senior Associate News & Culture Editor Nicoletta Richardson loves the bathroom in Kelly Sean Karcher’s Modern and Minimal Kit Home

This whole property projects a minimalist, sustainable design, but I feel this bathroom encompasses that hygge way of living the most. This sleek spa bath rests on one side of a glass wall, adorned with a single painting of a lake that makes you feel like you’re actually there. Simple design elements like a marble brick wall and large circular mirror add more calming beauty to the area.

Commerce Editor Marshall Bright loves the bathroom in Jesse David Green’s Minimalism Meets Organic Modern Michigan Home

Honestly, here’s just another room that ticks a lot of my design boxes: subway tile, gold hardware instead of silver (which I see as an extension of my love of gold rings), round mirrors, minimal spaces that feel very clean and cozy, all topped off with an amazing walk-in shower. I’d love to crank up my Spotify shower playlist and steam up the glass while I do a hair mask. And, as someone who has had both curtains and glass panels on showers, I cannot overemphasize enough the joy of never having to replace or clean moldy shower curtains.

Design Editor Bridget Mallon loves the bathroom in Nicole and Dan Lucey’s Bold Brooklyn Brownstone Remodel

There are few things I love more than black walls, and this bathroom proves how beautifully they can work in smaller spaces. But everything about this room is breathtaking: the tile floor, the brass touches, the pops of lime and turquoise, I love it all.

House Tour Editor Adrienne Breaux loves the bathroom in Katie Day’s Eclectic Modern Country Home

Many of the rentals I’ve lived in have been windowless, dark, bland, small spaces. Even though I know that rental apartments and temporary homes deserve attention, I just often find myself leaving the decorating of the bathroom last, or ignoring it altogether. I think that’s why I love this bathroom so much. Hardly any decorating was “needed” at all, because tons of light floods the space, and classic architectural elements make the room feel clean and elegant. The cherry on top is the gorgeous array of verdant plants hanging from a DIY hanger made from an old ladder.
