If there’s one thing we love to talk about here, it’s mattresses. We’ve touched, tested, and reviewed several of them over the years, which is honestly an impressive feat considering just how many mattress companies have sprung up recently. Truly, the rise of direct-to-consumer, bed-in-a-box companies means that there have never been more luxury mattresses available, and the competition keeps getting stiffer as brands release newer upgrades to their originals. To keep track, we rounded up the latest mattress models you should know about, and what makes them stand out from their predecessors—and luckily, many of them are currently on sale.

Allswell Supreme Mattress

Spoiler: The Supreme is my mattress, and I love it more than most things in this world. Not only is it totally luxe, with 14 inches of foam, individually wrapped coils, and a quilted Euro top, but it’s under $1000—for a Queen! There is also a layer of graphite and copper gel, which I, a hot sleeper, can confirm keeps everything cool. Don’t forget the bedding collection, too.

Bear Pro Mattress

An under-the-radar brand that we really love, Bear’s latest mattress stands out for its copper-infused foam that guarantees a cooler, cleaner sleep (it’s antimicrobial!). The Bear Pro is actually made with athletes in mind—it has a celliant cover that studies suggest actually speeds up muscle recovery. It’s not the most luxurious mattress Bear offers, but it is the smartest and most distinctive, and the price is right for what you get.

Leesa Legend Mattress

An upgrade from Leesa’s hybrid mattress (which followed up its original foam mattress), the newly-released Legend has micro-pocket springs that provide targeted pressure relief and eliminate any motion transfer. The cover is also a new design, made of hypoallergenic, organic cotton and merino wool. Even better: Leesa donates one mattress for every 10 sold, but through the end of the year they will be donating one mattress for every Legend sold.

Tuft & Needle Hybrid Mattress

The hybrid is the third mattress launched by Tuft & Needle, following the trend away from foam. The six layers include pocketed springs, T&N’s signature carbon-fiber infused, ultra durable foam, and graphite to wick away heat and moisture. For a hybrid mattress, this one is actually pretty budget-friendly—and includes free shipping and returns.

Birch Natural Mattress

You’re probably familiar with Helix, which is known for its totally customizable mattress, but did you know the brand also has an organic line? Launched this past spring, the Birch mattress is GREENGUARD Gold certified, meaning that it’s free of any harsh chemicals and polyurethane based foams. What you will find is an organic cotton cover, wool batting for stability and temperature regulation, and Talalay latex for pressure relief.
