Who hasn’t occasionally wished they could sleep through work and still get paid? Well, apparently sleeping is a job, and the position is open. One sleep solutions company is seeking a “sleep intern,” who will literally be paid to sleep. The dream job puns write themselves.

India-based company WakeFit, which sells mattresses and other sleep products like pillows and blankets, has posted a call for sleep interns to participate in a sleep study over the course of 100 nights. WakeFit provides the mattress and fitness tracker. All you need to do is sleep (in the comfort of your own home).

“This exciting role gives you the opportunity to keep your boring day job and to make money while you sleep at night,” says the job description. For 100 nights, the internship pays 1 lakh (100,000 rupees), which currently equals about $1,400 U.S. dollars.

Just because everyone sleeps, though, doesn’t mean everyone is qualified to be one of WakeFit’s class of 2020 sleep interns. The company seeks particularly healthy sleepers, those who can sleep for at least eight hours per night, in a variety of environments (regardless of light or noise levels), and can fall asleep within 10-20 minutes. The study will involve strict caffeine limits, so big coffee-drinkers are out of luck.

Here’s how WakeFit describes the ideal candidate: “Those who can thrive in a slow paced environment, conceptualise and deliver effective strategies on how to get themselves and their team members to sleep deeper and longer. Demonstrated affinity to cosy environments, napping, lazing and lounging will be a bonus.”

To apply, all you need to do is write a short response to the question “Why do you think you deserve this job?” and answer a few demographic questions. You can find the application form (and a video version of the job description) here. May the best sleepers win!
