Greek food is delicious. Greek kitchens are, possibly, even more delicious. Feast your eyes on these spaces, and maybe take away a little inspiration for your own kitchen — or just go on a tiny virtual escape.

The architecture of the Greek isles, also known as Cycladic architecture, features thick, whitewashed walls, which provide protection from the heat, in much the same way adobe walls do in the American Southwest. The kitchen cabinets here are often built into plastered or stone countertops, which would’ve helped keep items inside them cool. Above, the kitchen in Coco-Mat Eco Residences, with its mixture of old stone and contemporary features, is a great mix of rustic and modern.

In this kitchen from Exteko Deco, different textures play together beautifully. Your home may not have stucco walls or a rustic beamed ceiling, but you can still create a mix of interesting materials like wood cabinets, concrete and marble countertops, and rugs made from natural materials.

This Greek kitchen, spotted on The Style Files, is petite but still stylish, with a fridge that tucks neatly under the counter to give the room a spacious feel. The fancy hanging light helps a small room feel stylish.

While this kitchen from Cose di Casa is certainly beautiful, my favorite thing about it has nothing to do with its style. A half-height wall separates the working bits of the kitchen (like the sink and the stovetop) from the rest of the room, so cooks can interact with visitors and family, but messes are concealed when the kitchen is viewed from other parts of the room.

In this Greek kitchen from Yatzer, a glass window in the floor opens up a view into a food storage space below. The mix of rustic textures and modern appliances is a beautiful blend of old and new.

In this kitchen from Est Living, an antique table, which serves as an island, almost steals the show, even in a room with a lot going on. It’s a beautiful complement to the more traditional stone counters here, but an antique island would also make for a lovely bit of contrast in a more modern kitchen.

In this kitchen from Marie Claire Maison, grey kitchens lend a calming feel — but the main event is that beautiful floor. Get the look with terra cotta tile.

Above: This is the kitchen of the Villa Rosalva, on the island of Mykonos. It’s available to rent from Beyond Spaces Villas, but even if you can’t afford a luxury Aegean getaway, you could still steal this white-and-green palette for your own kitchen.
