Taylor’s Majorly Multi-Functional Mini Home
Name: Taylor Location: Upper West Side – Manhattan, NYC I moved into a studio apartment in August. It was a very nice space with good fixtures and great floors, BUT small for someone who works from home and needs the space to have clients come in (yoga & massage) as well as a home office to run my graphic design business. Not to mention.. actually live here and feel at home.

Brooke & Adam’s Sweet Simple Life
Name: Brooke (of Fresh Bib) & Adam (of Fish Fotography) Location: Dallas, Texas In an effort to work from home (photographer and designer) we moved to a small mid-century modern home that had one owner and zero updates since it was built in 1957. Over a long summer, we added a second floor to house our photography and sewing studios, while gutting the kitchen and 2.5 baths. My husband demolished our kitchen on our 9th wedding anniversary. I cried.

Darrin’s Super Compact Bachelor Pad in Singapore
Name: Darrin Location: Changi, Singapore When it was time to get myself a bachelor pad, I opted for a 495 sq ft apartment in the eastern part of Singapore. When I received the keys to my place, what separated the living room and the sole bedroom were three sliding glass panels. Working with my interior designers, I conveyed my ideal, which was to have a centerpiece console that could accommodate and display my 400-plus vinyl collection.

Michelle’s Grown-Up Look
Name: Michelle Location: Los Angeles, CA I’ve lived in my rental apartment for almost 5 years (I’m the building manager) and hadn’t changed much of the hand-me-down furniture that i scrapped together when i moved in. I recently turned 30 and took a look around and realized the place didn’t fit me anymore- I had grown out of the look and style of the entire place. I then started on a mission to re-design the entire place!

Jack’s Small Stylish Space in Chicago
Name: Jack Location: Chicago, IL My apartment is in an amazing vintage building in Lakeview that used to be owned by the Roosevelt family. There is no lack of character, which is one of the best parts aside from great lakeside location. Although it’s a smaller unit (roughly 450 sf) as a result of the chopped up floor plans when it was converted to a rental building, it’s very efficient.

Lisa’s Comfy 1960s Home
Name: Lisa Location: Maryland Welcome to my fresh, comfy and magical mid century home! Built in 1961, this home has been through many updates over the years, including my own recent enhancements since purchasing the home in July 2014. I love the central location in the wonderful waterfront community of Olde Severna Park which allows my daughters and I and our dogs Mojo and FJ, quick walking access to restaurants, our community walking trail and our beautiful beach on the Severna River.

Signe’s Breathtakingly Lovely Home in Norway
My husband and I are photographers and we had a wedding to photograph in Rosendal, Norway. The first thing we did after booking the wedding was go to Airbnb to look for a place to stay. Signe is an interior designer, and has been working on a television program in Norway that focuses on interior design.

Sofia’s 1910 New England Colonial
Name: Sofia Location: Waltham, Massachusetts I bought my house about a year ago, on my own. It’s a 1910 New England colonial, which had been rented out for decades. Because of this, the previous owners had neglected to paint over the original wood trim, mess with the steam heat, or do any renovations whatsoever (including the decision not to put something as frivolous as a sink in the main room of the kitchen!).

Brigitte’s Real Deal Apartment in Brooklyn
Name: Brigitte Location: Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NY I moved into this space in 2008, so I’ve had a solid 6 years to settle in and make it my own. The look was initially far more minimal, but over time became increasingly dense and layered. I attribute this less to my design sensibility and more to my lack of self-control. Whenever I come across a unique piece of art or an interesting object I think, “I can find a spot for that!”.

Jessica & Milo’s 400 Square Foot Studio (Filled with Interesting Stuff!)
Name: Jessica & Milo Location: Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, NY My boyfriend and I moved into this space less than a year ago from two separate (much larger) apartments. Theresa & Marjo’s “Nice & Squishy” West Coast Home
Name: Theresa & Marjo Location: Atwater Village, CA The house was built in 1928 and there are so many parts that we want to gently tear down and rebuild. We did, however, decided to renovate the kitchen and that was a 6 week journey partly due to our committing to the idea of an all-white kitchen. It’s the first room in our house that we renovated and has become our proudest home project.

Name: Ajenda Location: Houston, Texas My husband and I moved into our 700 square foot apartment 6 months ago. Simran’s Sunset Boulevard Perch
Name: Simran Location: West Hollywood, CA I moved into this apartment about a year ago. It’s a great triplex above Sunset in West Hollywood. My landlords live above me, but they don’t rent the third apartment out because they like it quiet. I feel like I’ve really lucked out here—the location is great, there’s a huge yard, I have parking and yes, it is really quiet! It is about 750 sq. ft. and has a nice layout with a central hallway and both front and back doors.

Makeover by: David (check out David’s kitchen makeover, too) Location: Glendale, CA We purchased our mid-century ranch house in 2012. We were only the 3rd owners. The first owners commissioned Architect Robert L Earl to build the house, and it was complete in 1962. They lived in it for ten years, the second owners for 40 years. Other than some decor changes was pretty much in original condition. The second bath came to us with an egg yolk yellow bathtub, and brown carpeting, yuck!
