Name: Yasmin Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada My apartment is a 590 square foot attic suite in a Victorian Townhome. After living abroad I returned to Toronto for graduate studies, bringing with me a collection of textiles from my travels. Most of the textiles pictured are from Turkey and Estonia, my living room carpet is a 1930 Baltic design handwoven by a relative of mine. The art work scattered throughout are mostly gifts from friends and artists, I work for a contemporary art gallery.

Name: Clare (Broadcast Producer) & Mike (Advertising Creative Director) Location: Leaside – Toronto, Ontario, Canada We both lived in Leaside when we started dating. Mike has 3 children and I have 2. They range in age from 12 to 17. Mike was living in a small apartment and I was living in a small 3 bedroom house. We got married in September of 2014 and needed to find a new house that was big enough to fit all 7 of us.

Name: Christine & Tom of Solares Architecture Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada Our home is in Toronto’s Roncesvalles Village near Dundas and Sorauren. We recently did a major renovation of it ourselves – we’re architects! We intentionally bought this house because it fit our criteria for a fully detached major fixer-upper in a family-friendly neighborhood. We love our little street!

Name: Dan, resident engineer at Vancouver’s The Space Studios; Tegan, co-creator of Treasures and Travels Location: Mount Pleasant; Vancouver, British Columbia Size: 800 square feet Years lived in: 2 years; Rented Located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, Tegan and Dan stumbled upon this tucked away corner unit in one of Vancouver’s finest heritage buildings.

Name: Amie, Emma, and Francesca Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada This (500 sq ft) apartment was the first one we looked at on our one day of searching and we knew that we had to have it (especially after we saw the next apartment on our list). We really lucked out with a dishwasher, in unit laundry, AC, and a great landlord.

Name: Julie & Adam Location: Canmore, Alberta, Canada We live in a 1200 square foot [including attached garage] three story townhouse in the charming little tourist town of Canmore in the Canadian Rockies. We feel very fortunate to call this pretty little corner of the world home; the outdoors are a huge part of our lifestyle and are so excited to raise our son, Morris, with a love for the mountains. When we bought this home nearly three years ago it was a great blank canvas with good bones.

Name: Christine Donnelly Location: Toronto, ON I bought this small house (about 1,000 square feet) on my own 6 years ago in an up-and-coming (read: rough and tumble) area called Parkdale, in Toronto’s west end. Having grown up in public housing I spent my childhood living and playing in huge stretches of run-down apartment buildings. For me, the idea of living in a “real” house one day seemed like an impossible dream.

Name: Laura Paul Location: Ottawa, Ontario My home is an 850 square foot, two-bedroom condo in Old Ottawa South, which I purchased when moving back ‘home’ after living in Toronto. Sustainability is my passion, and Buildings are my canvas (I obtained a Bachelors in Civil Engineering). I went to work renovating the dated condo to be more sustainable, and inline with my personal aesthetics.

Design blogger Cynthia Zamaria’s home proves that a lustrous pop of color can accent classic décor without becoming obnoxiously loud or over-the-top.

Name: Renee Location: Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada Our home is a two story, three bedroom house built in 1950. It’s just a little over 1400 square feet. We have lived here for about 5 years now and we have loved every moment. Our house is full of light and the layout is perfect for entertaining. We love that it has character with plenty of molding, wood fireplace, rounded doorways and lovely french doors. My design inspirations are simple and classic, with a fun twist.

Name: Pomona Singh Location: Toronto, Canada Size: 1100 square feet Years lived in: 5 years, Owned There’s something so fascinating about getting a peek into another person’s home — I love to see how other people live and the design and details they choose to surround themselves with. Pomona’s thoughtfully decorated space is filled with both old and new treasures, with everything in the perfect place and every detail thought out.

Name: Shelley Gainer Location: Toronto, Canada Size: 1100 square feet Years lived in: 3 years; owned The first place place that popped into my head after getting my Apartment Therapy gig was the beautiful loft of my friend (and former boss!) Shelley. This is as authentic as it gets for a loft, folks. The building was converted from a warehouse into lofts in 2003, featuring wood beams, brick walls, metal warehouse doors, concrete floors and huge windows.

Name: Leah & Kris Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada I’m a jewelry designer living in Vancouver, BC with my husband, Kris, who is a music composer for film and television. We were given the opportunity to buy the great space we had been renting for one year and have since made it our own. Running our own businesses from home, we have incorporated both studio workspaces and living spaces to flow dynamically throughout our home. Our space is a three-story, 1080 sq. ft.

Name: Brittany Location: Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada The best way to describe our home on the East Coast of Canada is a woodsy retreat with fresh finishes. Our home is located in Quispamsis, in an area known for its outdoorsy roots with cool tree lines and beaches that surround the Saint John River. This 2,700 square foot walk-out bungalow was built by my husband’s company in June 2013.

Name: Kirsten Marshall (interior designer, Palmerston Design Consultants) and Chris Tabbitt (owner/custom travel planner, Travel Impresarios) Location: The Annex, Toronto Size: 3000 square feet Years lived in: 9 years Kirsten Marshall of Palmerston Design Consultants is an interior designer whose modern style is something we’ve actually seen before on Apartment Therapy – she and her team designed both Greg & Rob’s Sky Suite and Meg & Steve’s Urban Nest.

Name: Zak Mroueh, Chief Creative Officer & CEO, Zulu Alpha Kilo Location: Toronto, Canada Size: 8,000 square feet Years occupied: 4 While many advertising agencies have a free-spirited and collaborative approach to the creative process, few have taken that philosophy to heart to the degree that Zulu Alpha Kilo’s founder Zak Mroueh has.

Name: Cynthia of Recreational Decorator Location: The Beach – Toronto, Ontario, Canada We bought our home just about two years ago and renovated it from top-to-bottom. The elderly woman (her refurbished sofa still sits in our livingroom) who sold us the home had lived here for years and wanted a family to move in who would not tear the house down or do a monster reno (we have a very large city lot so the home was certainly appealing to builders).

Size: 1,000 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Owned I actually came across Heather and Eric’s beautiful home on Airbnb! We were looking for a little getaway for the weekend, and I couldn’t believe how charming their space was. Eric owns a tree planting company, which allows for a large amount of travel during the year.

Name: Kate Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada I live on the second floor of an older character home in the west end of Toronto. When I moved in, four years ago, the apartment was painted a mishmash of vibrant colors. Going against my instincts to paint the entire space white, starting from a neutral palette, I decided to try to work with what was already there.

Name: Dan Horton, audio engineer & Sarah Prowse, kinesiologist Location: Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada Size: 7 bedrooms, 5,000 square feet Years lived in: 4 months; owned When kinesiologist Sarah Prowse and audio engineer Dan Horton were ready to take the leap from their rented loft to purchasing their first house together, they discovered that affordable homes in good condition are few and far between in Toronto’s hot real estate market.

Lori and Ken’s home was featured here on Apartment Therapy in 2009 and four years later, the space is more elegant and creative than ever. Hovering on the edge of the downtown core, The Windsor Arms was built in the Art Nouveau style and features leaded stained-glass windows, Belgian tiles, wood-burning fireplaces and an enviable entrance hall.

What do you know, I was right!
