The Dark Side of Decluttering: Have You Ever Regretted Getting Rid of Something?
We talk about getting rid of stuff all the time and laud the benefits of getting more and more things out of our homes. Freedom! Negative space! Less to clean and organize! While these are all most definitely positive effects of shedding excess, it’s possible that in our maybe-too-hasty pursuit of an ideal that may or may not be your own, we have some casualties, we lose things forever at our own hand and then feel the pang of missing them.

Your Guide to Swanky, Stylish, Small-Space Entertaining
A house or apartment isn’t a home until you’ve entertained in it, even when you’re talking about the smallest of homes. But hosting a dinner or even just cocktails in a new space can be stressful enough — teeny tiny parameters aside. During our recent refresh of the OG Apartment Therapy apartment (which, at just 265 sq. ft., is the poster child of teeny tiny) we thought through a few ways for someone hosting in it could boost their confidence.

Amazon Freaked a Whole Bunch of People Out With a Baby Registry Email
Emails from Amazon are usually good things: Your order has shipped, someone sent you a gift card, and the like. Tuesday afternoon, however, one email sent to multiple customers by mistake had people scratching their heads and questioning whether the online retail giant knew something they didn’t. Around 4:30 pm ET yesterday, several people took to Twitter to share that they got an email from Amazon announcing someone purchased an item from their baby registry.

Before & After: From Blank Wall to Beautiful Built-Ins
A big blank wall. It could easily be a source of inspiration or anxiety. For Becky, it was inspiration first, contractor-related anxiety second. She seized the opportunity to use her large amount of blank space as an opportunity to go above and beyond a standard media center and add some built-in charm to her living room. The results are a stunning nod to farmhouse style, will remaining understatedly chic.

Before & After: A Tiny, Crumbling New York Kitchen Goes Classic
When Emily went looking for an apartment in New York, she wanted a place with vintage charm, like the beautifully detailed old buildings she had seen while living and studying in Normandy. Instead, she found the next best thing, a fixer-upper apartment in a 1940s building, whose tiny kitchen and bathroom were badly in need of updating (and a little classic character). The kitchen, only six feet wide, suffered years of neglect during the time the apartment served as a rental.

At $3,200, the median asking rent for a two-bedroom apartment in New York City has fallen a substantial 19.6% since its peak of nearly $4,000 in March 2016, according to report by rental website Zumper.

These Bookcases Aren’t What They Appear To Be
You can perhaps blame it on having watched too much Scooby-Doo as a kid, but the idea of secret passages fascinates me.
